In March this year, Zac Hollis, Director, Sales and Marketing had Tweeted that the CNG variant of the Rapid is on the anvil. Now, however, in a reply to another query on the micro-blogging site, he has entirely dismissed all the talk of the Skoda Rapid CNG model being on the cards.

Replying to someone who had tagged him in a Tweet to ask him if the launch of the Skoda Rapid CNG is still on the cars, Zac Hollis simply said,"There are no plans to launch Rapid CNG", thereby dismissing all the rumours of an imminent launch of the greener variant of the C2-segmenter. In a reply to one Akshay Ballal who ask Zac if there will be no CNG cars in Skoda India's lineup, the head honcho said that his company has been reviewing the future model plans but at this stage, there is no confirmation if CNG models would be released.
It must be noted here that Zac Hollis, back in March this year, had revealed to another Twitter user that the Skoda Rapid CNG will be introduced along with at least 3 other new models this year. Back then, Zac had said that the Rapid CNG is in testing phase and ever since, there have been several speculations on the launch of the new variant. Now, however, it looks the recent Tweets have put all the rumours to rest.
Earlier this month, Zac Hollis revealed that his company will launch a mid-size sedan placed above the Rapid by year-end. The new model will be underpinned by the MQB-A0-IN platform and will be larger than the current entry-level sedan in the carmaker's lineup. The engines will be shared with the Kushaq, which means the new sedan would be sold with two engine options - a 1.0L TSI and a 1.5L TSI.
