KTM 1390 Super Duke R

Last Updated on 24th June'24: Design: In design, the KTM 1390 Super Duke R is a typical KTM motorcycle with super aggressive styling, featuring sharp-edged body panels with loud orange highlights. At the front, the 1390 Super Duke R has a minimalist all-LED headlamp, with vertically stacked LED projectors having boomerang-shaped LED DRLs on their sides. The muscular-looking fuel tank looks huge with sharp-edged extensions, with it having a capacity of 17.5 litres. Another interesting highlight of the new KTM 1390 Super Duke R is the addition of winglets for better downforce at higher speeds. This flagship roadster from KTM also gets an LED tail lamp and turn indicators.

Features: KTM has gone into full-blown mode for the 1390 Super Duke R, by equipping it with state-of-the-art features and electronic riding aids. In addition to a well-detailed and comprehensive full-TFT instrument console and switchgear with backlit illumination, the 1390 Super Duke R also gets five riding modes – Rain, Street, Performance, Sport and Track, 5-step adjustable wheelie control, engine braking control, cruise control, cornering ABS, tyre pressure monitoring system and KTMConnect smartphone connectivity suite.

Engine and transmission:KTM has increased the capacity of the liquid-cooled, V-twin, LC8 engine of the previously available 1290 Super Duke R. The engine is now a 1350cc mill, which generates 190 bhp of maximum power and 145 Nm of maximum torque. With these performance outputs, the new engine in the KTM 1390 Super Duke R produces 10 hp and 5 Nm more than the 1290 Super Duke R.

Launch Time:KTM has already indicated that the 1390 Super Duke R is a part of the product offensive plan it has charted for its premium superbikes for the Indian market. The new KTM 1390 Super Duke R is expected to come to India in the second half of 2025. Before that, KTM will upgrade some of its sales and service outlets for a seamless, premium customer experience for superbikes like the 1390 Super Duke R. 

Rivals:The KTM 1390 Super Duke R belongs to the flagship category of hyper-naked roadsters with full-blown performance levels. This makes it a direct rival to similar flagship naked roadsters like the Kawasaki Z H2, BMW S 1000 R, Ducati Streetfighter V4 and Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS.

Price: With expensive and top-quality hardware and electronics on board, the KTM 1390 Super Duke R might not come cheap, as it will also arrive in India through the CBU route. Expect it to be priced between Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
