Should I buy the Ronin?
TVS Ronin is primarily a city commuter bike. It has a radical yet unique design that may or may not appeal to customers. The radical design offers good comfort to the rider as it has a relaxed riding position. Meanwhile, the top variant of it is fully loaded with features like Bluetooth connectivity & a dual-channel ABS. It rivals the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 which is the best-seller in this segment. We recommend the Ronin for its solid build quality & torque-rich performance.
- The design of TVS Ronin is very radical. It is based on a neo-modern design theme. The round headlight, sculpted fuel tank, & golden USD forks make up for a good on-road presence. Also, the upright riding stance helps in a commanding riding position. However, the tail design is a hit or a miss for most buyers. We think the rear could be improved for a better overall design.
- Ronin has a tubular handlebar that is tilted towards the rider, the footpegs are centre-set, & the single seat has very comfy cushioning. Hence, the Ronin is among the most comfortable bikes in its segment. The commanding riding position also helps in good handling on the Ronin.

- The square engine of the Ronin is designed for good low-end torque and better mid-range performance. Inside the city, it feels very easy to ride and has a lot of torque to potter in higher gears. But, out on the highway, the bike feels out of breath above 90 kmph. Also, the 5-speed transmission has short throws, and it is engineered for short gear ratios. Therefore, the Ronin’s engine is best suited for city riding.
- The fuel economy of this engine is also decent. In our tests, the bike easily gave more than 35 kmpl inside the city, even after riding it hard and fast.

- The USD front suspension and the preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear help provide a very comfortable riding experience on the Ronin. The bike remains pliant on undulations and bumps. Over the cracks of the road and bad roads, the Ronin remains confident yet comfortable.
- The easy riding position and low centre of gravity aid in the agile handling of Ronin. It is a pretty easy bike to ride in traffic. Riders of any height can ride it easily, and the low curb weight is also helpful when parking the bike. On curves, it handles decently and doesn’t let the rider's confidence slip.
- Ronin is equipped with dual disc brakes (on the top variant). It also gets a dual-channel ABS that works seamlessly. The performance of the brakes is very nice & the calibration of ABS is also well put. Even after a full day of riding, the brakes of Ronin will feel strong & responsive.
- In terms of features, it is the most loaded bike in its category. It has a digital cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, LED lights, USD forks, alloy wheels, & the Smart Xonnect tech by TVS as well. All of these features help in the ease of riding as well as make it a smart bike in its price bracket.

TVS Ronin comes with two ABS modes – Urban and Rain. These two modes tweak the way the ABS kicks in when you press the brakes. The rain mode tightens up the response from the ABS system for added safety in slippery conditions.

Meanwhile, TVS has launched updated version of the Jupiter back in August, featuring a more modern design and additional upgrades.
The TVS Ronin 225 combines classic design with a neo-retro scrambler style, while incorporating modern features with a 225.9cc BS6 engine that churns out 20.1 bhp of power and a peak torque of 19.9 Nm. Although there have been no recent updates to this model, TVS has teased an updated version of the Jupiter, set to launch on August 22 this year, featuring a more contemporary design along with some more key upgrades.
