BMW M5 2021-2023

Like the exterior of the vehicle, the interior of the BMW M5 has a stylish look. The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch touchscreen with the latest iDrive system and integrated Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The touch screen mounted above the AC vents also has basic functions that control navigation, media, phone, car settings and the like. Other features that add on to the cool quotient are powered and heated front sports seats, four-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, hands-free parking and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, to name a few.

The cabin of the sedan gets a plush soft-touch leather interior. The multi-spoke steering comes with audio controls for the driver’s convenience. In addition to this, there is a four-zone climate control system. The seats are well cushioned and are comfortable. The driver seat is height-adjustable and has a memory function, however, to avail seat ventilation and massage functions, customers have to spend extra money. 

Apart from the aforementioned features, one of the main highlights of the interior is the instrument cluster. The M5-specific instrument cluster presents the driver with additional information for sporty driving. If the track driving mode is selected, the display shows info on different aspects such as boost pressure, tyre pressure, G-force of lateral and longitudinal acceleration and much more.

The BMW M5 gets a BS6-compliant 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 625hp and 750Nm of torque. The engine of the M5 is powerful but returns good fuel efficiency figures, all thanks to the Valvetronic and direct injection system. It allows the motor to make huge amounts of torque but maintains fuel efficiency at the same time. As for the transmission, the petrol motor comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that is slick. 

In terms of performance, the BMW M5 is an all-rounder. It performs extremely well on highways as well as in city driving conditions. The 750Nm of torque the engine produces definitely comes in handy while performing tough manoeuvers on track. The engine feels refined even at higher RPMs. 

The automatic transmission is quick to respond when you need a sudden surge of power. It shifts to lower gears quickly and provides the grunt that is needed to overtake high-speed traffic. The straight-line performance of the vehicle is decent considering the fact that the vehicle is on the heavier side. The vehicle is also built to withstand the stress encountered while driving on bad sections of the road thanks to its robust chassis.

The suspension setup of the BMW M5 is pliant. BMW has managed to provide a well-balanced suspension setup that is neither floaty nor stiff.  It comes with new suspension hardware at the front as well as rear that easily evens out the small bumps on the road when the vehicle is moving at low speeds. At higher speeds, the M5 feels planted on the road surface and hence, it presents good high-speed stability. 

The engine is good in terms of refinement and the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels are under control as expected from BMW. The noise from the engine bay does not seep into the cabin even while the motor is running idle. Even though the vehicle weighs nearly 2-tonne, the body roll is minimal. The steering is light and provides decent feedback. At higher speeds, the Sedan does not lower the confidence of the driver as the steering provides good feedback.

In terms of safety features, the BMW comes with crumple zones which are the key points on the structure of the vehicle that absorb impact in the scenario of a collision. In addition to this, there is an emergency SOS call function that connects the emergency helpline number for immediate assistance in case of an accident.

On the safety front, the BMW M5 comes with 6 Airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability and Traction Control, Electronic Differential Lock Control, Cornering Brake Control, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, Attentiveness Assistant and much more. Considering other vehicles in this segment, the BMW M5 has done an excellent job in terms of offering safety as it comes loaded with several active and passive safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist and much more. 

The cabin of the BMW X5 is all about spaciousness and opulence. The classy, contemporary style of the interior is complemented by a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon's surround sound system, and ambient lighting. X5 has a comfortable seat upholstery with good quality ‘Vernasca’ leather used. To make the seating positions comfortable, it has electrically adjustable seats. BMW offers ambient lighting at both front and rear doors which is a good mood-setter.

The most alluring feature is the automatic AC with a four-zone climate control ensuring individual climate control. The latest X5 has great dimensions which make the cabin look more spacious. The luggage compartment assures safety from its sliding and anti-slip rails which give support to the luggage. BMW introduced crafted clarity glass which features a gear selector switch, iDrive controller and start/stop button made with hand-crafted crystal glass elements.
