The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a refreshed premium hatchback that brings sharper styling, a new 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine, and a significant technology upgrade. Its highlights include ventilated front seats, an active-cooled Qi-certified wireless charger, premium Clarion audio, and first-in-segment Level 2 ADAS. It is offered with manual and automatic transmission options, while the S-CNG version broadens the powertrain choice.

Pros & Cons of Baleno
What we admire in this car
First-in-segment Level 2 ADAS significantly strengthens the Baleno's active-safety and driver-assistance package.
Ventilated front seats add genuine everyday comfort, particularly for Indian driving conditions.
CNG-AMT combination expands the Baleno's appeal to buyers prioritising convenience and lower running costs.
The active-cooled Qi wireless charger is a thoughtful upgrade over a conventional wireless charging setup.
Familiar dimensions and a 2,520mm wheelbase retain the Baleno's established compact yet practical footprint.
What could have been better
No turbo-petrol option means performance-focused buyers have limited reasons to choose the Baleno.
Exterior changes are evolutionary, with the familiar silhouette largely retained; not something that existing and potential buyers expected.
The larger new grille may not appeal to everyone, with its design feeling slightly overdone and divisive.
Should I buy the Baleno?
-
The 2026 Baleno retains its familiar proportions but gets a sharper front-end treatment, making the premium hatchback look fresher without changing its overall identity.
-
The front now features a larger grille with a more elaborate pattern, while the headlamps retain their swept-back shape but receive a revised internal layout.
-
The bumpers have been redesigned with updated lower air intakes and new fog-lamp detailing. New alloy wheels further differentiate the facelift from the outgoing model.
-
The rear receives revised detailing around the tail-lamps and bumper, while the dimensions remain unchanged at 3,990mm in length and a 2,520mm wheelbase. A new Enigmatic Teal colour has also been added.
Baleno body specifications:
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Boot Space | 318 liters |

-
The cabin retains the familiar layout centred around a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system and semi-digital instrument cluster, while gaining several important new features.
-
Ventilated front seats are a major addition and further strengthen the Baleno's premium positioning.
-
The car gets an active-cooled Qi-certified wireless charger, designed to prevent excessive heat build-up during smartphone charging.
-
A premium Clarion sound system adds another notable upgrade to the cabin. Existing features include a head-up display, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera.
-
Safety is one of the biggest areas of improvement, with the new Baleno gaining Level 2 ADAS technology as a first-in-segment feature.
-
The ADAS package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Advanced Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist, adding active driver-assistance functionality to the premium hatchback.
-
The facelift also adds a tyre-pressure monitoring system, while the 360-degree camera from the outgoing model continues to be available.
-
The Baleno retains other equipment carried over from the outgoing model, including the head-up display and associated safety and convenience technology.
Baleno safety specifications:
| ADAS | Yes |
| Parking Sensor | Rear Only |
-
The biggest mechanical change is the new 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine, borrowed from the Swift and Dzire. Maruti has developed it around stronger low-end torque characteristics.
-
The engine is available with a five-speed manual or AMT gearbox, giving buyers a choice between conventional driving involvement and automatic convenience.
-
The same Z-Series engine is available with a factory-fitted S-CNG setup. For the first time on the Baleno, the CNG version can also be paired with an AMT.
-
The Baleno continues to prioritise efficiency and predictable running costs rather than outright performance, with the absence of a turbo-petrol engine making its character more comfort and efficiency-focused.
