Hyundai recently launched the new Hyundai i20 in the Indian market. The new i20 has been priced from Rs 6.79 lakh and directly lock its horns with the cars like the Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno, and VW Polo. The new Hyundai i20 get three engine options to choose from which include a 1.2-L naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-L GDi turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-L U2 diesel engine. The 1.2-L engine can be had with a 5-speed manual or an IVT belt-drive gearbox while the turbo engine can be had with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. Speaking of the rivals, the Tata Altroz gets a 1.2-L revotron engine that comes mated to a 5-speed MT. The Maruti Baleno can be had with a 1.2-L naturally aspirated motor or with a 1.2-L DualJet naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed MT while the dual jet can also be had with a CVT gearbox. The recently updated VW Polo on the other hand gets two engines - 1.0-L MPI and a 1.0-L TSI turbo petrol engine. Both these engine are capable and refined and come mated to a 5-speed MT and a 6-speed MT respectively. The 1.0-L TSI can also be had with a 6-speed AT. Moving on to the diesel engines now, the Hyundai i20 is powered by a 1.5-L U2 diesel engine that churns out 100 PS and 240. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed MT. The Tata Altroz on the other hand gets a 1.5-L Revotron diesel engine. The peak power and torque output from this engine stands at 90 PS and 200 Nm. A 5-speed MT is offered as standard with this engine. The fuel economy figures from both these engines stand at 25 kmpl. More details are given below:
