Both the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are based on the same platform, with the same engine options. However, with different approaches to the segment, which one manages to stand out?
As part of Volkswagen and Skodas India 2.0 project, the versatile India-specific MQB-A0 IN platform was developed. This versatile platform would house both SUVs and sedans, wherein it debuted last year with the Kushaq and Taigun SUVs. This year its the newly launched Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia sedans. Both have their fair share of similarities, just like their SUV counterparts, when it comes to their premium looks, feature-rich interior, and exciting engine options.

2022 Volkswagen Virtus vs 2022 Skoda Slavia: Trim Levels & Prices
The newly launched VW Virtus will be available in two trim levels: Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The former comes with the 1.0-liter TSI engine, while the latter gets the 1.5-liter TSI engine. Furthermore, the Dynamic Line also gets upgrades like dual-tone roof color, black ORVM, boot-lid spoilers, aluminum pedals, and red-contrast stitching on the seats. The Dynamic Line just gets dual-tone alloys, and chrome accents on the front, side, and rear of the car. The official prices have not been revealed as of yet, however, expect its ex-showroom price to start from Rs. 10.00 lakhs, because of the reason below.
The Skoda Slavia is priced between Rs. 10.69 lakh and Rs. 15.39 lakhs, with three trim levels - Active (ex-showroom Rs. 10.69 lakh), Ambition (ex-showroom price - Rs. 13.59 lakh), and Style (ex-showroom price, Rs. 15.39 lakh). Just like the Virtus, the Slavia also gets the 1.0-liter TSI and 1.5-liter TSI engine options, with the same power output figures. But only the former option is available in the market now. Theres no performance-oriented RS badge available with the Slavia, yet, hopefully, Skoda will think of something in the future.

2022 Volkswagen Virtus vs 2022 Skoda Slavia: Dimensions and Design
Dimension-wise, both the Virtus and Slavia have the same width at 1,752 mm, and share the same 2,651 mm long wheelbase. Both the sedan also boasts a capacious 521-liter boot space, and this is where all similarities end.
The Virtus is 20 mm longer at 4,561 mm compared to the Slavias 4,541 mm overall length. But, with extra ground clearance, the Slavia stands tall at 1,507 mm compared to the Virtus 1,487mm height.
Design-wise, the Slavia is a bit more aggressive looking with more curves, compared to the Virtus. The front fascia will instantly remind you of the Octavia, and the notchback styling (that also is present in the Virtus) is more prominent here. The Virtus has a more executive approach when it comes to this aspect. The straight design lines on the front, rear, and side profiles, give the car an understated, and yet expensive look.

2022 Volkswagen Virtus vs 2022 Skoda Slavia: Engine Specs
As we have stated several times before, both the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus gets the same TSI engine options. The 1.0-liter TSI engine produces 113 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, and it comes mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
On the other hand, theres the 1.5-liter TSI engine option that produces 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. This engine features Active Cylinder Technology, and it comes mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed DSG option. 2022 Volkswagen Virtus vs 2022 Skoda Slavia: Features
Theres no doubt about the fact, both the sedans are loaded with a plethora of service features. As far as similarities are concerned, the interior of both the sedans gets a 10-inch infotainment screen as standard, along with a fully-digital instrument cluster. Along with it, theres connected car technology, wireless smartphone charging facilities, automatic AC, rear AC vents, ventilated front seat, sunroof, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, and an 8-speaker sound system.
Common exterior features include LED headlamps, and tail lamps, with DRLs, automatic rain-sensing wipers, ORVMs, and chrome accents, as well. So, as far as the gadgetry is concerned, both the sedans are on par with each other. However, with just two trim levels, the features list in the base Virtus model gets evenly distributed with some exclusives in its own regards. However, with three trim models, the base Slavia might come across as less palatable, for Skoda has two more trims to distribute its features.

Theres no doubt that both the 2022 Virtus and 2022 Slavia are exciting sedans and quite the exclusive posh sedans. However, both have their unique personalities when it comes to approaching this segment. One crucial deciding factor will be their price tag, and VW is yet to officially confirm the Virtus. However, if youre regretting after booking the Slavia during the pre-Virtus launch, and fearing that you might miss out on some German brilliance then freight not, the differences are not revolutionary. In essence, both are still the same.
