Pros of Tata Nexon
Safest Indian Car
Five or six years ago, safety was not a priority for customers looking for their next car. They wanted their car to be safe, but they always looked for the cheapest option that provided the most value. However, Tata single-handedly changed this by sending the Tata Nexon for the G-NCAP test, where it achieved a perfect 5-star rating. Since then, people's perception of Tata and the overall Indian car market has changed.
Now, everyone who searches for a new car looks for the safety rating or personally inspects the build quality. This shift happened because of the Tata Nexon, which is one of the biggest reasons for its popularity. Additionally, the 2024 model received 5-star ratings in both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP.
Looks Future Ready
The facelift made the Tata Nexon look futuristic. The LED lights on the bonnet and rear appear perfect and catch your attention, even in a traffic jam. Additionally, the design philosophy is inspired by the Harrier and Safari, but somehow, the sequential LED DRLs here look cleaner. Also, the striking paint options complement the exterior and enhance its aesthetics. Personally, it looks perfect in Daytona Grey.
Driveability
Apart from all the electrical additions, the Nexon is mechanically strong and drives really well. Thanks to its 208 mm ground clearance and 16-inch wheels, it soaks up bumps and crosses rough terrain effortlessly. The driver feels confident and can even push it to the next level. So, a bit of off-roading is definitely doable in the Tata Nexon.
Feature-Rich
The top-of-the-line trim comes with a welcoming feature executed via LED DRLs. When you unlock the Nexon, it uses its LEDs to create a dramatic light show to welcome the keyholder. Additionally, it features premium JBL speakers, two screens, a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, a voice-assisted sunroof, an umbrella holder, a 360-degree parking camera, and a blind-spot monitor. Tata has really packed this vehicle with lots of features, and now we understand why it attracts people.
Available in Multiple Variants
The cheapest model of the Tata Nexon is the Smart (0) 1.2L Petrol 5 MT, which costs Rs 7.99 lakh, while the top model is the Fearless Plus S, priced at Rs 15.79 lakh ex-showroom. There are also 7 variants in between. Additionally, the Nexon offers two powertrain optionspetrol and dieselalong with 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 7-speed DCA transmissions. So, Tata has designed the Nexon to cater to everyone.
Even the base variant gets 6 airbags, three drive modes, power front window, central lock, LED DRLs, headlamps, and talights, hill hold control, and reverse parking sensors.
Cons of Tata Nexon
Poor Fit and Finish
The panel gaps in this vehicle are unbelievably large. They are so noticeable that even if you don't pay close attention, you'll spot them at first glance. This reflects inconsistency in the production stages, which is not a problem with the car itself but with the people who made it. Additionally, there are panel gaps at the rear end where you can insert your finger completely. On the other side, you can even fit a needle.
Insufficient Petrol Engine
The 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which produces 119 PS and 170 Nm of torque, is both unrefined and lacking in punch. The Nexon feels slow and is only suited for people who drive with a light foot. The poor performance is due to the fact that it's a three-cylinder engine, which struggles to keep up with the Nexon.
Touchscreen Hangs
There have been several instances where the Nexon's 10.25-inch display and MID have hung during driving. This issue has also been reported in several Tata cars, where the MID blacks out in the middle of driving, requiring the driver to restart the car to bring it back. This is a hardware issue that must be resolved quickly, as the overall resolution of these screens is top-notch.
Tata service centers
Tata is notorious for having poor service centers and for the lack of professionalism among the staff. In some cases, people who leave their cars at these centers do not get them back for months due to continual delays in the work. Additionally, some have shared their negative experiences with dealerships, indicating that customers and potential customers are not treated with the dignity they deserve.

Verdict
The Tata Nexon may be a 5-star car, but its peers do not receive many stars, which is a well-known fact among Indians. Despite this, people can't get over the Nexon's absolutely striking looks. Additionally, this vehicle is great to drive, packs all the modern features, and is one of the safest cars in India. So, its no wonder it sells so well.
