Mahindra Thar 3 - Door vs Thar Roxx: Exterior
From the first glance, the Thar Roxx appears substantial, it wider and longer, plus a video is circulating on the web, where a Jimny is passing through the Thar Roxx, and that video clearly displays, how big the 5-door version has gone. Comapring it with Thar 3-door, the face has new grille which is body coloured, plus the circular headlights have C-shape DRLs, and between them sits the LED headlamps. Plus, the turn indicators are also LED.
Also, the bumper has been redesigened althought, that won't catch the eye, because it looks quite similar from a distance. Talking about the side profile, the all new diamond cut alloys are there in Thar Roxx, which absolutely appears handsome, and 255/60 R19 size, which feels perfect for the SUV of this size.
The door handles for the second-row doors are placed near the window panel, similar to what we've seen in other cars like the Maruti Swift and Chevrolet Beat. Also, the third glass panel, which is integrated into the metal roof, is shorter than the other two windows. The reason for this is that the Thar Roxx is a five-seater SUV, and the rear part of the vehicle offers 644 liters of boot space. This window allows light to enter, making the interior brighter and airier.
The rear end of the Thar Roxx is quite similar to the Thar 3-door, with the main difference being the integration of LED tail lamps. Additionally, the glass panels are bigger and taller. Speaking of paint options, the Mahindra Thar 3-Door is available in five colors.
- Aquamarine
- Everest White
- Red Rage
- Napoli Black
- Galaxy Grey
Now, the new Thar Roxx paint options are:-
- Stealth Black
- Tango Red
- Everest White
- Deep Forest
- Nebula Blue
- Battleship Grey
- Burnt Sienna
Now, let's check out the dimensions of these two peas from the same pod to better understand the real differences.

Height | 1855 mm | 1923 mm |

Mahindra Thar 3 - Door vs Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interiors
Dark interiors are not typically loved by Indian families, so to make it more universally appealing, Mahindra has used cream-colored leatherette upholstery inside. This makes the interior look more airy and charming. The seats, the lower half of the dashboard, and the roofline are all covered in cream-white upholstery.
Most changes are inside, where the new Thar Roxx features a 10.25-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, rear AC vents with a C-type port, armrests, a wireless charging pad, powered driver seats, and a dashboard made of soft-touch materials that feel premium.
Additionally, the second-row seats are adjustable, and passengers also get dedicated spaces to keep their mobile phones. There is also a rear armrest with two cup holders. Important thing to keep in mind, is that all these things are not available in the Thar 3-Door.
Lastly, the boot space in the last row, which provides 644 liters, is a behemoth, and at least three to four suitcases can easily fit there. The 3 -Door version also offers plenty of space, but only after you fold down one of the rear seats. Here, without any modifications, Mahindra has carved out that humongous luggage area.
Mahindra Thar 3 - Door vs Thar Roxx: Engines
The three-door version is available with two diesel engines (1.5 L CRDe and 2.2 L CRDe) and one petrol engine (2.0 L M-Stallion). However, the Thar Roxx offers only two engines: a 2.0 L turbo petrol direct injection (TGDi) and a 2.2 L diesel engine (mHawk). Additionally, customers can choose between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
So, basically, the automaker skipped the smaller 1.5-liter diesel engine and used the other two, which makes more sense given the size of the vehicle. However, one important thing to note is that the diesel engine is available in two tunings: one making 131 PS and the other 174 PS. The lower-powered engine can be mated to both the 6-speed manual and the 6-speed automatic, and the same applies to the higher-powered engine. The same thing also applies to turbo petrol engines.
Let's check out the engine specification available in the Thar Roxx.
Thar Roxx | Petrol | Diesel |
