Skoda Kushaq vs Rivals: Price
With the Kushaq, Skoda has broken the perception that Skoda cars are pricier than competitors. From the base-spec to the range-topping variants, the Skoda Kushaq undercuts the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in pricing, making it a terrific value for its asking prices.
Model | Skoda Kushaq | Hyundai Creta | Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara |
Price of petrol variants (ex-showroom, Delhi) | Rs 10.89 lakh Rs 18.79 lakh | Rs 11.00 lakh Rs 20.15 lakh | Rs 10.99 lakh Rs 19.93 lakh |
Skoda Kushaq Vs Rivals: Engine And Mileage
Starting with comparing primary engines, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine of the Skoda Kushaq takes on the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engines of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. In this comparison, the Skoda Kushaq leads the pack with the best power and torque outputs. At the same time, the Grand Vitara claims the lowest performance outputs, though making up for the compromise with the best fuel efficiency figures.
Both the Skoda Kushaq and Hyundai Creta also have 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options with 7-speed DCT gearboxes as standard, and the Kushaq also has a 6-speed manual for the same. The Creta has an advantage here with relatively higher power and torque outputs. The Grand Vitara has no turbo-petrol engine option but a high-tech petrol-electric hybrid engine with an astonishing fuel efficiency of 27.97 kmpl. The Creta is the only one here to get a diesel engine option, too, giving buyers an added choice.

Skoda Kushaq vs Rivals: Dimensions and Road Presence
If you compare all three SUVs here, the Skoda Kushaq looks visibly smaller than the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, with its length, width, and height being lesser than those of the two rivals. However, it has the best wheelbase in this company, making it as roomy as the Creta and Grand Vitara inside despite being a smaller SUV than the other two.
All three SUVs here have LED headlamps and tail lamps, with only the Kushaq not getting a connected LED light bar between the tail lamps at the rear. These three SUVs also have 17-inch machined alloy wheels and slim roof rails in their higher-spec variants. While the Grand Vitara has the highest ground clearance, the Creta's boot compartment is the most spacious.

Skoda Kushaq vs Rivals: Features
Unlike the Creta and Grand Vitara, which have larger panoramic sunroofs, the Skoda Kushaq is the only SUV with a smaller, single-pane sunroof. Besides that, the Kushaq is a decently kitted SUV, but it lacks the Creta's segment-exclusive dual-zone auto AC and level-2 ADAS and the Grand Vitara's head-up display.

Verdict
With the Kushaq, Skoda has made a terrific attempt to crack the code of premium compact SUVs. However, it is not wholly perfect, with its smaller dimensions and fewer features than its higher-selling rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Vitara. Where the Kushaq has created benchmarks is the best-in-class performance figures claimed by both the turbo-petrol engines. Also, despite having the smallest footprint, it hasn't come in the way of a cabin as spacious as the Creta and Grand Vitara.
