Filling Up & Setting Off
We started by filling the fuel tank using the auto-cut method. The mileage run was done with a mix of highway and city. After filling the tank, we reset the trip meter and headed off toward our journey to extract the mileage. We started early in the morning which helped us in avoiding the peak hour office traffic.
Taking Readings Of Displayed Economy
We took the readings of the odometer after every 50 km. The first reading was taken at 53 km and the displayed economy was 19.6 kmpl. We tried to keep our speed under 80 km/h while driving in the city. After about 60 km, we reached the highway to continue our journey.
On highways, the Nexon DCA was performing pretty well and offering a good driving experience. The dual-clutch automatic in the Nexon is tuned well, it's not the smoothest in front of the DCT offered in the KIA Sonet and Hyundai Venue but it does the job well.
At 102 km we took the reading again and the mileage dropped by 1.2 kmpl and the displayed economy was 18.4 kmpl. On highways, we increased the speed to 80-90 kmph.
The claimed fuel efficiency of the Tata Nexon with DCA transmission is 17.01 kmpl. After driving the car for 145 km we decided to finish the run and the displayed economy before entering the fuel pump was 17.8 kmpl.
Result
After driving the car for 145 km, we filled the tank again using the auto-cut method. The Nexon took in 9.33 litres of petrol. With a simple calculation, the Nexon DCA gave us a mileage of 15.6 kmpl. This mileage came in the mix of city and highway running conditions. Also, the mileage figure can vary depending on your driving style and scenarios.

Verdict
The fuel efficiency of a vehicle can vary based on the driving style and scenarios. In the mileage run described above, we maintained a speed below 90 km/h and drove with a light foot. If you enjoy driving more aggressively, the mileage figures may decrease. If you drive purely on highways, the Nexon DCA can give you around 16-17 kmpl but this will decrease in city and in traffic conditions.
