TVS Raider 125 New Variant - Worth It To Buy?
The new variant is basically a single-seat version. TVS has received feedback from customers about the absence of a single seat, hence, the new variant is now introduced. Apart from the seat, the whole bike is similar to its other variants. This means that its modern design with LED DRLs and sharp edges remains unchanged. Additionally, features like the reverse LCD screen and a single front disc brake with a single-channel ABS are also available on this variant. Meanwhile, the rear brakes are still drummed on it. TVS has also not fiddled with its colour options.
Speaking of its mechanicals, it uses the same 124.8cc single-cylinder engine. This air-cooled engine makes a peak power of 11.2 bhp & a peak torque of 11.2 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed gearbox on it. However, due to the latest BS6 Phase 2 emission norms, this engine has also been updated. Therefore, it is now OBD2 compliant as well. Some other noticeable features include 17-inch alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, & a 10-lt fuel tank. TVS also provides a USB phone charging and storage space underneath the seat.
Verdict
The Raider 125 has proved itself to be a competent bike in the commuter segment. Due to its modern design, good fit & finish, & refined engine; it has earned good sales figures in the market. Now, the addition of a single seat will enhance its utility factor among the buyers as per their preferences. Some of its prominent rivals in India are - Hero Super Splendor & Honda Shine.
