2024 Jeep Meridian With ADAS: The Latest Hot Addition

The Meridian test mule was spotted in Bengaluru and was heavily covered in wraps. However, on closer inspection, the ADAS module can be observed, hinting at its inclusion in the next update of this 3-row SUV.

The observed Jeep Meridian, being a Bosch test vehicle, implies its potential role in Bosch's broader research and testing initiatives. While the vehicle serves as a platform for general testing, the implementation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) requires a tailored approach for each specific car. Considerations such as the vehicle's dimensions and the placement possibilities for cameras and radars play a crucial role in influencing how ADAS functions. This necessitates model-specific tuning to ensure optimal performance and integration of ADAS features tailored to the unique characteristics of the Jeep Meridian.

Both the Jeep Compass and Jeep Meridian are set for a 2024 upgrade with more features than before. The highlight is the ADAS module, along with some more safety-bolstering additions. This will keep them updates with the evolving trend in the market where ADAS seems to be the new normal. On top of this, a 360-degree camera will be coupled as well. However, there seems to be no cosmetic changes as far as this test mule is concerned.

Powertrain: Engine Updates Incoming?

At present, the safety suite of the Meridian comprises a comprehensive array of features. It encompasses ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, and ISOFIX mounts for securing child seats. Additionally, the inclusion of a 360-degree camera, coupled with parking sensors, adds an extra layer of safety and convenience, enhancing the overall safety profile of the Jeep Meridian.

On the powertrain front, there are speculations surrounding the testing of the 1.3L GSE T4 turbo petrol engine, generating 150 bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine, if incorporated, could potentially establish a more budget-friendly option for the base models. However, it's rumored that the Jeep's 4X4 system might not be coupled with this new turbo petrol engine. An alternative powertrain option is the proven 2.0L turbo diesel, familiar to models like the Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector, and Hector Plus. Delivering 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, this diesel engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter.
