The Toyota Fortuner Legender has two variations on offer, a 4x2 and a 4x4 option. According to us, if you want the Legender on a budget, choose the 4x2 variant. If you want to take it off-roading, then 4x4 is better.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender is the premium version of the regular Fortuner. It has extra features. It has a different design language with a more bold stance and appealing look. The engine is very reliable and has an ample amount of grunt on offer both in on and off-road capabilities. It is a safe car with 7 airbags on offer with ABS, and EBD and comes with only one color option. Hence, if you are looking for a reliable SUV with a macho road presence, then Legender is the right vehicle for you

Should I buy the Fortuner Legender?
The Toyota Fortuner Legender is a great car. It's in its segment and has enhanced features, much better exterior looks, and a reliable diesel engine. Though it is a bit on the pricey side, it still has a good customer base and a massive waiting period due to its demand. Still not convinced about the Legender variant? Then, look for the regular Fortuner, the MG Gloster, or luxury cars like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, or the Mercedes Benz GLA.
- The seats of the Legender offer the same level of comfort as the regular Fortuner. It has a good commanding view from the front seats and the window area is large enough to bring in light.
- The rear seats offer great comfort and practicality. It has a good knee room, leg room, and shoulder room is great for 3 passengers at the rear. The third row of seats is great and adults are comfortable in the 3rd row.
- The suspension of the Legender is on the softer side. The car glides smoothly over the bad roads and bumps. There is some body roll on hard corners. But, at high speeds, there is some up-and-down bouncing inside the cabin.
- The steering wheel is a hydraulic unit and is quite heavy in city conditions. It requires effort in bumper-to-bumper condition and at high speeds, it offers a great feel and feedback.
- The design of the Toyota Fortuner Legender is quite different from the regular Fortuner. It has a completely different front face, though it is powered by the same engine. The cross-shaped grill with the Toyota logo boasts a massive presence. The headlights are new in design and have brilliant illumination at night. It has LED fog lamps as well and the sequential turn indicators double up as the LED DRL.
- On the side, it has 18” alloy wheels which have a different design and pattern as compared to the regular Fortuner. It could have been offered with 19” alloy wheels for better presence. It is available in a single paint shade only and offers chrome door handles to enhance the premium appearance. The side footstep helps in the in-rest and eg-rest of the vehicle.
- Coming to the rear, it has a similar design to the regular Fortuner. The LED Tailamps have sequential indicators. A powered tailgate makes the vehicle more practical. It has a great boot space on offer. The blacked-out badging enhances the sporty characteristics of the vehicle. The subtle spoiler gives it a premium appearance.
- As we step inside the cabin of the Legeneder, it is almost similar to the regular Fortuner. The layout of the dashboard is the same, but now it has red stitching on the touch points along with dual-tone leather seat upholstery.
- It has now got a wooden finish on the gearknob panel and around it to enhance the premiumness of the cabin. The red stitching enhances the sporty character of the Legender.
- In terms of features on offer, there is an addition of a few worthy features. Now in the Legender, it has ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and ambient footwell lighting. It even has a foot gesture for the tailgate release. Both 4x2 and 4x4 variants have these features. But, they come with an expensive price tag compared to the regular Fortuner.
- The rear seat passengers now get USB charging at the rear for enhanced practicality and charge your phones
- The Fortuner Legender comes equipped with the same 2.8L diesel engine that churns out 201 BHP and 500 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. It comes only in Automatic transmission in the Legender variant.
- This engine is very reliable and has great driveability. It has great low-end and mid-range, but the top-end may scream a bit. The engine noise is quite evident and sometimes you’ll feel it is inspired by a truck.
- The Fortuner and Legender are based on the same platform. So, they both offer great off-road performance.
- It has a great approach angle of 29 degrees comes with locking rear differentials and has a 25-degree departure angle.
- The 18” alloy wheels on offer provide good traction on and off-road. They make it a comfortable off-roader in its segment. There is a very small population that will take its Legender to the off-road playground.

Although there's been no recent update on this variant, Toyota has revealed that this month, the Innova Crysta is in high demand, with a reservation waiting period stretching up to six months.
Fortuner Legender Price: The price of the Toyota Fortuner ranges from Rs 42.82 lakh to Rs 46.54 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Fortuner Legender comes in two different versions depending on the type of drivetrain, namely 4x2 and 4x4.
Exterior: The robust exterior of the Toyota Fortuner Legender is equipped with a sharp and sleek grille with a catamaran-style front bumper. Moreover, the split quad LED with waterfall LED line gives an elegant signature look. From the back, the car has a rear black garnish and catamaran style rear bumper and a dual-tone black roof. The intricate design of the car is highlighted through 18” multi-layered machine-cut alloy wheels, from and rear sequential turn indicators and a Legender badge.
