Ather Energy - Plans New Maxi-style E-Scooter
The current lineup of these three scooters has relatively modest dimensions and storage capacity. However, it seems that Ather is gearing up to introduce a new and notably larger electric scooter. While this new model might not exude the same sporty vibe as the 450X, it's poised to prioritize comfort and convenience over sportiness.
Interestingly, the upcoming scooter won't be targeted towards families; instead, Ather seems to be leaning towards a maxi-style approach. This idea has its roots in a design patent that Ather secured for a maxi-style e-scooter back in 2021, and it appears that this design could finally come to life in production.
Considering this, Ather might leverage the features, battery, motor, and hardware from their current lineup and incorporate them into this upcoming model. We might even get a glimpse of this new scooter by 2024.
Currently, Ather's offerings consist of the 450S, available in a single variant, and the 450X, offered in two trims. The 450S packs a 2.9kWh battery paired with a 5.4kW (peak power) motor, delivering a maximum range of 115km and a top speed of 90kmph. On the other hand, the 450X boasts two battery choices: 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh. The smaller battery variant covers around 111km, while the larger one extends the range to 150km. Both options, however, are equipped with a 6.4kW motor.
Beyond these developments, Ather is also diligently working on an electric motorcycle that might hit the market in the next five years. The brand has been vocal about its interest in electric motorcycles.
Interestingly, the upcoming Ather electric vehicle could potentially lock horns with the TVS iQube.
