Bajaj Auto Aims Big Plans With Dominar 400. Here's What We Know!

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Bajaj Auto aims to elevate the Dominar 400 to a higher segment while positioning the Pulsar series as affordable sports bikes.
  • Their goal remains to capture Royal Enfield's market share, a task now entrusted to the Triumph 400.
  • The next generation of the Dominar could be based on an entirely new platform.

Bajaj Auto is gearing up to reintroduce the Dominar 400, bolstered by their success with the Pulsar NS400Z in the 400cc market. Initially launched in 2016, the Dominar never achieved widespread commercial success, often seen merely as a powerful machine. Despite aiming to surpass Royal Enfield's market share, Bajaj eventually entrusted this goal to their partners, Triumph.

What are Bajaj Auto plans with Dominar?

On May 3rd, 2024, during the launch of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, Bajaj's Executive Director, Rakesh Sharma, outlined their vision for the Dominar 400. He emphasized elevating it to a new league of sport bikes, positioning it as less accessible and reserved exclusively for enthusiasts. Additionally, Sharma highlighted that the Pulsar series would cater to those seeking sportiness at an affordable price, while the Dominar 400 would serve special purposes.

Over the years, Dominar has been marketed as a tourer bike, supported by significant upgrades to reinforce this campaign. Despite these efforts, it has struggled to compete with Royal Enfield in the market. As a result, Bajaj has collaborated with Triumph, whose product, the Triumph 400, is now leading the charge.
