Ride and Handling8

‘Excellent value-for-money bike’ is what we have to say about the Pulsar NS400Z. The bike looks nice, rides fast, and has a superb engine performance as well as fuel economy. Also, its price tag is equally attractive. This is considering the capacity of the engine offered. The only miss on the bike is its okay build quality and lack of modern features like a TFT screen.

Pros & Cons of Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z

  • What we admire in this bike

    • Superbly priced for the segment it belongs to
    • Use of cycle parts from siblings makes the maintenance costs less
    • Puch-packed performance from the engine
    • Agile handling makes it fun to ride on the city streets
    • Braking entices confidence inside the new riders
  • What could have been better

    • Design looks similar to the smaller N250 and NS200
    • Build quality could have been better considering the use of cycle parts
    • Seat comfort is not as good as you would like it to be
    • Barebone features like LCD console make it feel less premium

Should I buy the Pulsar NS400Z?

Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is a street naked sports bike that is meant for fun riding and powerful performance. Its 373cc engine makes it worth every penny spent. However, its commanding riding position and firm seat makes it less enjoyable on long trips. We suggest it to the consumers looking for a powerful motorcycle but are running on a strict budget constraint. The overall value of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is superb and beats the rivals by a huge mark.

Design & Comfort 7
  • Pulsar NS400Z has an identical design to the other N series Pulsar bikes. The front headlight is unique and offers a good throw because of the projector setup. However, the rear design feels like a smaller NS bike. Overall, its design is slightly better than the smaller Pulsar N250. It doesn’t offer a very unique appeal.
  • Riding comfort of the NS400Z is also decent. The front-set handlebar and center-set footpegs create a commanding riding position. This position feels good for short distances. But, it gets uncomfortable for long tours.
  • The split seat looks good but the cushioning on it is on the lesser side. It is best-suited for local rides or short distance rides.

The biggest Pulsar also competes with the KTM 390 Duke. While the pricing of both bikes is completely different, the engine capacity is in the same ballpark. The premium experience of KTM gives it a feel of a proper sports bike. In fact, it is premium in every possible way. But, you need to pay twice the price of Pulsar NS400Z for a slightly better experience. We suggest buying the Pulsar NS400Z because of its better value for money tag.

Yes the sibling bike Dominar 400 competes directly with the new Pulsar NS400Z. While both models share engine and other crucial parts, both bikes are completely different. Dominar’s higher kerb weight and relaxed suspension makes it more comfortable on the highway. Also, it is more relaxed to ride. But, the Pulsar is more fun to ride as well as has better control. We suggest opting for the Pulsar NS400Z for a better design and control.

      Roaring Beast
This is one of the best bikes across all segments. Its engine performance feels like a roaring tiger, and the mileage is impressive. The exhaust sound is truly heart-thumping. Whether it’s high-speed riding or sharp turns, this bike handles it all beautifully. Thank you, Bajaj, for such an incredible machine.

      Power Commuter
Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is a solid bike that's good enough for everyday riding. While it could offer better comfort and improved parts availability at workshops and showrooms, it still stands out for its performance and value in the price segment. A great choice if you're looking for a powerful commuter bike.

Very nice and decent looks. It feels made for speed with an authentic and aesthetic design. The features are also great, and it comes with four riding modes including Sport Mode. This bike is definitely worth it.

I already own the NS 160 and now I'm planning to go for the NS 400. Even though the Bajaj engine hasn’t been very reliable for me — it seized three times in the last 7 years — I still want to stick with Bajaj. There’s something about their bikes that keeps me interested, and I’m hopeful for better performance with the next one.
