Honda Activa e: Deliveries Pushed To April 2025 For Delhi And Mumbai
Honda earlier announced that deliveries for the new Honda Activa e: and QC1 electric scooters will commence in February 2025. However, due to Activa e's exclusive reliance on battery swapping stations, its initial availability will be limited to cities with established swapping infrastructure, which will be Bengaluru. The QC1, on the other hand, which features a fixed battery, will be more widely available across the country from February onwards. Both scooters will be sold through Honda's existing Red Wing dealerships. Notably, the Honda Activa e cannot be charged at your home and you will have to swap the battery at the swapping stations only, so the availability of the electric Activa will depend on the set-up of swapping stations in cities around the nation.
Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd (HEID) plans to expand its battery-swapping network to 500 stations across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai by March 2026. HEID aims to ensure a seamless battery-swapping experience through continuous network expansion, reliable service, and advanced system monitoring. While the battery swapping station reliance could be an early-stage hiccup for the Activa, over a long time, it could prove to be a bigger boost for its success.
Verdict
The electric mobility segment is a little sluggish in the four wheeler segment, but for the two wheeler space, it is quite hot and the market is openeing up to accept new players. While Ola and Ather had their strong hold, players like TVS and Hero are quickly catching up with their EVs. However, coming to the mammoth success of the Activa as a standalone brandname, its electric Avatar already has a strong backing which would prove to be a big push where it has all the ingredients to match-up to the segment biggies.
