Hyundai Motor India Restarts Production: Rolled-Out 200 Cars On First Day During Lockdown

The novel coronavirus has engulfed the entire world in its clutch and is now fast-spreading its tentacles in India too. The Government of India is trying their best to combat this pernicious virus and in a bid to break the chain of COVID-19, the Indian Government has announced a 55-day nationwide lockdown in the country in a phased manner. Currently, India is undergoing Lockdown 3.0 and in the third phase of lockdown, some relaxations have been provided to bring the economy back on the track. The Automobile companies have resumed their operations and likewise Hyundai Motor India Limited has restarted production at its Sriperumbudur plant in Chennai.

Hyundai India has restarted production at its Sriperumbudur plant located in the outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu from May 8, 2020. It is worth mentioning that Hyundai has stopped producing new cars at its manufacturing facility from March 23, 2020, to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. Now, Hyundai Motor India Limited has restarted production but they are taking all the necessary safety precautions. The company has taken several steps regarding safety protocol and is also ensuring 100% social distancing in accordance with the standard operating procedure.

The South Korean carmaker has announced that the production restart took place after 45 odd days and the company has rolled-out 200 cars on the first day itself. The company has also issued safety norms for all its factory workers to practise 360-degree safety apart from adhering to all State & Central Government guidelines. Also, the restart of production in shift operations is in line with the Governments aim to revive the economy as well as Hyundais Global Vision of Progress for Humanity. The commencement of manufacturing operations is aimed at boosting economic activities and striving to bring back normalcy.

Also, it is worth mentioning that Hyundai Motor India Private Limited is the largest car exporter in the country. However, due to the prolonged nationwide lockdown, the carmaker registered zero domestic sales in April 2020 and reported 1,341 units of export last month. Moreover, the company has also started its new 'Click To Buy' digital platform through which one can book their car online, can complete all the formalities, and can also get it home-delivered. Hyundai has also initiated five unique car financing schemes to attract new car buyers.
