KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Mahindra XUV e9 Coupe EV SUV spied
- Boot space and center console spotted in previous spy shots
- New details emerge; Expected to offer 500 km+ range
If there is one Indian brand after Tata, that is aggressively planning and chalking out its EV portfolio is Mahindra. While it currently just offers a single XUV400 EV electric car in its portfolio, the expansion policy in place with a comprehensive list of vehicles being prepped for a launch soon projects something big in the future. And now, a coupe EV SUV has been spied testing, giving away some fresh details, but also leaving a question, is this the Mahindra XUV e9 or the debut spy shots of the BE 09 EV? Mahindra XUV.e9 Spied Or BE 09 Debuts In The Spy Shotverse?
While we have earlier spotted the Mahindra XUV e9 on quote a few occasions already, this time its new clothing seems to be in line with the general trend, shedding the blue tech pattern for a conventional black and white tiger stripes. On top of this, it visibly looks bigger than the Tata Curvv EV and the sloping roofline doesn't end abruptly, taking its sweet time.
In the latest spy shots, we see the first test mule with a new camouflage pattern. These images reveal several intriguing details. The vehicle features an eye-catching front with prominent LED DRLs connected by an LED light bar and a vertically oriented LED headlight setup. Additionally, the test mule is equipped with new wheels compared to previous spy shots. The camouflage on the rear left wheel has peeled away, exposing a 5-spoke design with a dual-tone finish and a concave center, radiating an interesting visual appeal.
The latest spy shots reveal a sleek coupe roofline that transitions smoothly, avoiding any abrupt cutoffs despite length constraints. At the rear, the vehicle features strikingly large LED tail lights with a connected design and, notably, an illuminated badge that reads "BE" rather than the expected Mahindra EV logo. This raises the possibility that we might be looking at the BE.09 for the first time, especially since the wheels resemble those seen on the BE.09 prototype. However, it's more likely that this test mule is a production version of the Mahindra XUV.e9, which is the coupe variant of the XUV.e8, an electric adaptation of the XUV700.
Battery And Expected Range
Mahindra has yet to disclose the specific details of the powertrain for their upcoming EV. However, it is expected to feature a battery pack in the range of 60-80 kWh. The vehicle will support fast charging up to 175 kW, enabling it to charge from 0-80% in just 30 minutes. With a top speed exceeding 200 km/h, the anticipated certified range is approximately 500 km. The launch is expected by late 2025.
