MotoGP India 2024 Cancelled or Postponed?
Not long ago, there were speculations that the Indian GP for this year would get cancelled. However, the organizing agency, Fairstreet Sports, denied these rumours. In fact, we covered a story around it which you can read by clicking here. But, things have not come up as planned earlier. Dorna, the governing body of MotoGP, has officially announced that this year's Indian GP aka Bharat GP has been postponed due to "operational reasons".
Now, what are these operational reasons? As per PTI, Fairstreet Sports officials denied the rumours suggesting the delay of dues submission to Dorna. It is said that the agency has failed to submit the remaining financial dues for the previous race conducted at the BIC to Dorna. However, the officials of Fairstreet Sports cleared this with a statement quoting 'weather' as a prime reason.
As per the officials of Fairstreet Sports, the dues are almost cleared and the remaining will be cleared by the next month. It is the soaring temperature of September that has led to this conclusion of postponing the race till next year. But, when will the race take place in 2025? As per Fairstreet Sports, it is most likely to happen during the opening season i.e. March 2025. While the opening race seldom takes place in Qatar; it seems difficult for 2025 due to the Ramadan season. Hence, there is a minute possibility that the opening race could take place in India. For 2024, the September race will now take place in Kazakhstan.
