Pune-based home-grown utility vehicle manufacturer, Force Motors, showcased a bunch of new products at the 2020 Auto Expo. The fifteenth edition of the Auto Expo was held in India from 5-12 February 2020. At this biennial event, we witnessed a lot of new upcoming exciting products. And, the one which fascinated the off-road junkies the most, is the new Force Gurkha. The 2020 Force Gurkha is not just a facelift, it is an all-new SUV. The new 2020 Force Gurkha BS6 has now been recently spied on test in India, hinting its imminent launch. Here are some more details about it.
The new 2020 Force Gurkha BS6 was earlier scheduled to be launched in May 2020, but thanks to the on-going novel coronavirus pandemic, the launch has been further delayed. It is now expected to hit the Indian showrooms by the festive season of 2020. Recently, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the new Gurkha has been spied on test in India. It has been spotted doing low-speed intracity commutes in the Pune city of Maharashtra. However, it is worth mentioning that this is the first time after the nationwide lockdown that it has been spied on test in the country.
Although the new Gurkha was spied with heavy camouflage, we clearly know about the aesthetics of the SUV. That's because this proper 4x4 off-roader was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Talking about the looks of the SUV, so the new 2020 Force Gurkha looks damn interesting. Upfront, it gets new headlamps with wrap-around LED DRLs. It also gets new front bumpers, re-designed foglamp assembly, new 16-inch alloy wheels and more. The tyre size of the SUV measures 245/70-16. However, the recently spied test mule was running on steel rims. The new alloy wheels could be offered as an optional accessory on the Gurkha.

The new Force Gurkha which was displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo also featured some off-road elements like a load carrier and a snorkel. Moreover, the SUV was painted in new orange colour which further enhanced its appeal. The new Gurkha will be proffered with a ton of dealer-level accessories to lure the off-road enthusiasts. It is also worth mentioning that as always the new Force Gurkha will be offered in a three-door format. The SUV now sits on a new chassis and gets new bodyshell to comply with the crash-test standards as well as the upcoming pedestrian safety norms.
The new 2020 Force Gurkha will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.6-litre common-rail turbocharged diesel engine. This oil-burner will churn out around 90 PS of power and more than 200 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. As always, the SUV will also get off-road capable 4x4 drivetrain system with a low-ratio transfer case. It will now get an independent front suspension and coil springs at all four corners. The 4x4 model of the Gurkha will also feature live axles at either end with front and rear manual locking differentials.
The 2020 Force Gurkha also gets an overhauled interior layout. It gets a new dashboard design which houses the new touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV can seat six people at once as it gets four forward-facing seats and two jump seats at the rear. Moreover, it now also gets power windows, a new instrument cluster with digital multi-information display HVAC Controls, etc. The Gurkha is based on body-on-frame platform and is now even equipped with safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, etc.
As mentioned before, the new 2020 Force Gurkha was earlier scheduled to be launched in May this year. But, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the launch has been delayed and it is now expected to be launched by September or October 2020. The new Gurkha will be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 10 lakhs - Rs. 14 lakhs, Ex-showroom. Once launched, it will rival against the upcoming new-generation 2020 Mahindra Thar.
