After an impending wait of 13 years, the Delhi government has hiked the PUC registration prices. The new rate list is out now, and the renewal prices have been hiked by up to 100 percent. The detailed breakup above shares the newly revised rates of obtaining a PUC certificate in Delhi. The highest increase has been witnessed for the CNG, LPG, and petrol-powered two-wheelers and three-wheelers. The cost of obtaining a pollution certificate has now gone up to Rs 80, as compared to the old Rs 40 mark. For the four-wheelers powered by CNG or petrol fuel, the new cost is now Rs 110. While the diesel-powered vehicle owners now need to shell out Rs 140 instead of the old Rs 100 mark, to get their certificates revised.
As per the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (1989), obtaining a pollution check certificate is necessary. Any owner found driving their vehicle without it, can be fined Rs 10,000. The recent revision of the rates has been pending for more than a decade. The government has revised the rates after the long-pending demands of the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association.

Verdict
The increasing pollution levels in Delhi/NCR have been a constant problem that is bothering the Delhi government for a long time. The recent implementation of NGT rules of banning 10-year old diesel and 15-year old petrol cars, have also not been a big success in controlling the pollution levels.
