German car maker Porsche has had an interesting previous few years, betting big on the premium electric mobility front with the Taycan and the Macan EV. However, the premium EV industry has seen a slowdown globally, which has also resulted in many car makers backtracking their EV plans.
As a result, Porsche too is reconsidering its plans, and it plans on bringing forth a new combustion-powered SUV, which will get combustion and/or hybrid powertrains. New Porsche SUV With ICE And Hybrid Power: Details

The Macan is currently available in both combustion and all-electric form. In a recent press statement, the German car maker has confirmed that the Macan will become an EV-exclusive nametag once the current combustion-powered Macan has sold out globally.

However, Porsche is developing a new SUV which will feature combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The SUV will feature a new design with typical Porsche traits, and it will be built on a flexible platform, which could likely be the PPC platform seen on the new Audi Q5. We can expect this SUV to make its global debut sometime around 2029 or 2030, with an India-launch likely to follow soon afterwards.

The German car maker says that its customers shall be able to choose between a set of combustions, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains well into the 2030s. This makes sense as the combustion-powered Macan, along with the Cayenne, have been the breadwinners for Porsche. These two SUVs allow Porsche to keep going crazy with the 911 and until recently, the 718. The recent slowdown in global EV sales has also caused Porsche and many others to reconsider their EV plans.

Porsche Cayenne And Other Future Plans

Besides the potential Macan replacement, Porsche is also working on the fourth-generation Cayenne, which will likely be an all-electric model. While it was supposed to debut globally after the all-electric 718, this seems to have changed, with the new Cayenne coming later this year, and the electric 718 to follow. The current-gen Cayenne will also carry on with its set of combustion and hybrid powertrains alongside the fourth-gen all-electric model.
Adding things on is a three-row electric SUV that will slot above the Cayenne, which is also under development. However, given the current EV situation globally, Porsche could possibly redesign the upcoming three-row SUV to include a combustion or a hybrid powertrain. Last but not the least, the 911 lineup is set to expand with a new flagship model, possibly hinting at the return of the 992.2-gen GT2 RS.
Verdict
Having bet big on electric mobility the all-electric Taycan and Macan EV initially, the recent global slowdown goes to show that customer demand always wins in the end. Customers should always be able to choose between a set of combustions, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains, regardless of the price range.
