Tata Power Partners With Rustomjee To Set Up EV Charging Stations In Mumbai

With electric mobility gaining pace at a decent level, different organisations have taken a step ahead to contribute to building a strong and robust charging infrastructure in India on a horizontal integration based pact. The Tata Group's Passenger Car division, Tata Motors, was among the first companies to have introduced electric cars, which were manufactured and developed in house as per the Indian climatic conditions. Charging infrastructure development takes a step ahead as Tata Power partners with Rustomjee, a real estate company, to expand its charging network in Mumbai.

Tata Power has decided to join hands with the real estate giant Rustomjee Group in Mumbai so as to expand their electric charging infrastructure across all their residential and commercial projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The chargers installed by Tata Power would be dedicated to the residents of the Rustomjee projects in the Mumbai Region where all electric vehicle owners would be able to charge their vehicles 24x7 along with a comprehensive maintenance support. The Rustomjee group is spread over twenty million square feet of land comprising of abround three hundred buildings, fourteen thousand homes and lakhs of residents.

Under the EZ Charge brand, Tata Power has established a vast electric vehicle charging infrastructure with more than a thousand charging stations throughout two hundred cities, as well as a digital platform to facilitate a simple and seamless customer experience. This network of public EV charging stations provides customers with creative and smooth EV charging experiences in places like offices, malls, hotels, retail outlets, and public access areas, allowing for clean mobility and now would be for the Rustomjee residents too! The ecosystem of Tata Power EZ Chargers includes public chargers, captive chargers, bus and fleet chargers, and home chargers.

Tata Power would be setting up twenty eight EZ charging stations at the dedicated sites under this alliance. Tata has already set up over a hundred electric vehicle charging stations in Mumbai and more than a thousand across the whole country. Thus, the Tata Power Group is all set to conquer the arena proactively as they have adopted this electric vehicle charging infrastructure strategy to help India adopt environment friendly mobility and has already partnered with many other organisations like Polo Tyres, HPCL, TVS and many others.

The development of the electric charging infrastructure is the need of the hour as per the environmental needs. The authorities are optimistic about their plans as this would reduce the range anxiety of electric vehicle owners and increase the adoption rate of an electric powertrain in the city for at least local commute. This would also catalyse the process of decarbonising the transportation sectors and put up electric vehicles at par with the offerings of an internal combustion engine vehicle.
