Tata Motors is making significant development in the CNG powertrain segment, and they have recently introduced the Altroz CNG in their lineup. Now, it appears that the brand is gearing up to launch the Punch CNG in the market soon. The Tata Punch CNG was showcased to the public during the 2023 Auto Expo motor show. According to reports, the brand has already commenced production of the Punch CNG at its manufacturing plant. With production underway, we can anticipate the official launch of the vehicle in the coming months.

Tata Punch CNG
The upcoming Tata Punch CNG will share the same design as the regular variant, featuring a CNG powertrain and additional feature enhancements. The design of the micro SUV will remain unchanged, but the exterior will showcase an i-CNG badge. Moreover, an electronic sunroof is anticipated to be included. The rest of the exterior features of the vehicle will stay the same. The brand will also make adjustments to the suspension tuning and improve brake performance to accommodate the added weight of the CNG cylinders.
Regarding the interior, the Punch will continue to offer a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. It will also feature automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-front airbags, seatbelt reminders for all five seats, ABS with EBD, and various other convenience and safety features.

Tata Punch CNG Powertrain
The existing model is exclusively available with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. Nevertheless, the forthcoming CNG variant will feature the same engine as the Altroz CNG. The 1.2-liter CNG engine produces a peak power of 73.5 PS and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The Punch is anticipated to incorporate the same dual-cylinder technology, as seen in the Altroz CNG providing boot space at the back.
Verdict
The upcoming Tata Punch CNG will be in direct competition with the recently launched Hyundai Exter CNG. However, the most significant distinction between the Punch CNG and Exter CNG will be the available variants. While the Exter CNG is offered in the lower S and mid-SX variants. On the other hand, the Punch CNG is expected to offered in multiple variants with all the features.
