In the latest round of Bharat NCAP crash test results, the electric versions of the Tata Punch and Nexon were tested. Tata Punch.ev & Nexon.ev has managed to pull off 5-star ratings in the BNCAP crash test. Both the EVs manage to receive 5 stars in adult as well as in child safety. Tata Punch.ev - BNCAP Crash Test Result

The Punch.ev has scored 31.46 points out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 points in child occupant protection. Moreover, it received 15.71 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.74 points out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. In child safety, the EV has received a 24-point dynamic score, a CRS installation score of 12 points, and a vehicle assessment score of 9 points.

The Punch.ev comes equipped with 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mount, ABS, ESC, hill start assist, TPMS, seat belt reminders, and rear parking camera with sensors among other features. The variant tested in the crash test was the Empowered+ S Long Range but the ratings apply to all the variants.

The Nexon.ev has received 29.86 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 44.95 points out of 49 in child occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it gained 14.26 points out of 16 and in the side movable deformable barrier test it received 15.60 points out of 16. If we talk about the child safety performance, it gets 23.95 points out of 24 in the Dynamic score, 12 out of 12 points in the CRS installation score, and 9 out of 13 points in the vehicle assessment score.

The Nexon.ve is equipped with 6 airbags, hill-ascent and descent control, auto hold, all-4 disc brakes, ESC, and blind spot monitoring among other safety features.

Verdict

The latest BNCAP crash test has revealed that Tata Motors is aggressively working on making safer cars for India. The ICE version of the Nexon and Punch also comes with 5-star rating and the EV version has now received the same ratings. The new results will help the brand to get more customers who prefer to buy a safe vehicle or want to rely on safety ratings while making a purchase decision.
