Tata Safari Latest ADAS Features And New Colour Options

Tata has expanded the colour palette for the Tata Safari, offering more options across the trim levels. The Stardust Ash and Galactic Sapphire colours are now available on the lower Smart and Pure trims, while the Lunar Slate finish can be had on the higher Adventure and Accomplished trims. The Supernova Copper colour, previously exclusive to the Adventure trim, is now offered on the top-spec Accomplished variant. All four trims can be had in Stellar Frost, while the Cosmic Gold finish remains exclusive to the top-spec variant. The Safari Dark Edition is available in the higher three trim levels.

As for the latest OTA update, just as we covered the story of Harrier getting new updates that added the Lane Keep Assist and the Adaptive Steering Assist. The updated ADAS suite will be available on the Adventure + A, Fearless +, and Accomplished + variants of the Harrier and Safari. Additionally, existing owners of the facelifted Harrier and Safari can upgrade their vehicles at no additional cost by visiting their nearest dealership.

Harrier Updates

While the Harier too gets similar updates as the Safari in terms of ADAS features, it also widens its colour palette, offering more options across the trim levels. The Ash Grey finish, previously limited to the lower Smart and Pure trims, is now available on the higher Adventure and Fearless trims. The Seaweed Green, earlier exclusive to the Adventure trim, is now offered on the top-spec Fearless variant. The Pebble Grey and Coral Red colours, previously reserved for the higher trims, are now available on the lower Smart and Pure trims. The Lunar White finish is offered across all four trims, while the Sunlit Yellow is exclusive to the top-spec Fearless trim. The Harrier Dark Edition, with its unique Oberon Black finish, is available on the three higher trim levels.

Engine Options

Both the Harrier and Safari continue to be powered by a 170 hp, 2.0-liter diesel engine, paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. The Harrier is priced between Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 25.89 lakh, while the Safari ranges from Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 26.79 lakh. Interstingly, the Harrier petrol model is also in the works and is slated for launch early next year.

Verdict

The recent ADAS update for the Harrier and Safari is a significant improvement, unlocking the full potential of its assistive features. While these features are designed to assist the driver, it's crucial to remain attentive to road conditions. The Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Steering Assist functions can help prevent accidental errors. Not to forget that the colour options being expanded to lower trims is yet another move that needs appreciation as the earlier decision to keep them reserved for expensive trims felt a bit imposing and restrictive.
