Bajaj CNG Bike: Design, Features, Engine, Price
The media invitation sent for the unveiling of this upcoming model by Bajaj gives a faint glimpse of the design. The silhouette visible in the photo is very different from any commuter bike. The unusual design of the seat and its length are eye-catching. Moreover, the round headlight gets a small flyscreen above it and different-looking telescopic fork covers. The rear design has a single-piece handlebar while the taillight appears to be positioned below it.
Considering the fact that the fuel tank looks very small, we suspect that it'll get bi-fuel technology. A small petrol tank will be provided for a limited range; to get the rider to the nearest CNG filling station. Meanwhile, the CNG tank would act as the major source of fuel and its capacity can be anywhere around 5-7 kg. The engine details are unknown but it is speculated to get a 110-125cc powertrain. The power figures are expected to match the petrol rivals like the Honda Shine and Hero Glamour Xtec.
As it is the first-ever CNG bike in the world, it'll have no direct competition other than the same segment of petrol bikes. However, Bajaj will position it aggressively in terms of pricing. Rs 90,000 is the price bracket that we suspect it'll cater to. Not long ago, two different-looking test bikes were spotted together. Hence, there is a possibility that Bajaj will introduce it in various variants. The official launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks post-unveiling.
