Volvo EX30 To Launch in 2025, Confirmed By The Head Of Asia Pacific

Head of Volvo Cars for Asia Pacific, Martin Persson, has confirmed that the Volvo EX30, Swedish brand's most sustainable EV ever, will debut in India in 2025. Following this, they plan to introduce the larger EX90. Martin also emphasised that their upcoming model will be shockingly efficient. He mentioned that environmentally conscious individuals will be particularly attracted to these vehicles, despite potential high pricing.

What to expect from the Volvo EX30?

The EX30 is a pared-down version of the EX90, sharing many features aside from its design. In international markets, this EV offers two battery pack options that provide a substantial range. The first option is a 51 kWh pack using LPF chemistry cells, offering a range of 344 km. It features a single motor powering the front wheels, delivering 268 PS and 253 Nm of torque.

The second battery pack is 69 kWh, capable of a range up to 480 km, with specifications varying by market. In the US market, the dual-motor EX30 produces 422 PS and 400 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, and all variants feature the 64 kWh battery setup. While it's uncertain if Volvo will launch this exact specification in India, the concept of the EX30 is undeniably intriguing.

The Managing Director of Volvo, Jyoti Malhotra, also expressed her excitement about the EX30. She mentioned that one-fourth of the cars Volvo sells in India are electric, and the EX30 is expected to further bolster this segment. Following this, Volvo plans to introduce the premium full-size SUV, the EX90, to the Indian market.

Current lineup of EVs from Volvo

Currently, the swedish brand has two electric cars on offer, the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge. The C40 Recharge is a sportback shaped SUV which comes in only one trim, "Ultimate" and costs Rs 62.95 lakh ex-showroom. It heart is of 78 kWh which offers the maximum range up to 530 km and the  408Ps and 660Nm of torque, which takes this C40 to 100 km in just 4.1 seconds. With a DC fast charger, the C40 Recharge will only take 27 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent.

The XC40 Recharge comes in two variants: the Plus, priced at Rs 54.95 lakh, and the Ultimate, priced at Rs 57.90 lakh. Both variants are powered by the same dual-motor setup with a 78 kWh battery, offering a range of 505 km. It produces 404 PS and 660 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 4.1 seconds. With a DC fast charger, it can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 34 minutes.

The EX30 appears futuristic and aims to elevate the Volvo brand to another level in India. The EV market is rapidly welcoming numerous new entries with exciting specifications, making it increasingly challenging to choose the best product in the future.
