Should I buy the Kylaq?
If you're looking for a compact SUV that delivers driving pleasure without compromising on practicality, the Skoda Kylaq combines a punchy turbo-petrol engine, confident handling, solid build quality, and strong safety credentials in a well-rounded package. It also offers a comfortable ride, a spacious cabin, and a feature list that covers most everyday requirements. It fares well on the features front too, but if you're looking for alternative powertrain options such as CNG or diesel, some rivals offer greater flexibility.
-
The Kylaq is the first Skoda car in India to come with the Modern Solids design language. As such, it makes use of some new design elements.
-
The Skoda grille has been redesigned to align with the new design language, and it gets a split headlamp treatment with DRLs placed above the headlamps.
-
The presence of cladding all around gives it a tougher, more imposing stance, and the profile is typically Skoda; understated, clean, and yet fresh and modern.
-
The design of the alloy rims is completely new, and the rear of the Kylaq receives smaller, square-ish tail lamps, with a black element and Skoda lettering on the tailgate.
Kylaq body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R16 & R17 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 189 mm |
| Boot Space | 446 liters |

-
The two-spoke steering wheel, indicator stalks, air-con vents, and the glovebox have been lifted off of the Kushaq.
-
The boot space of the Kylaq is 446 litres, which is easily more than what you get compared to its rivals.
-
The leatherette upholstery and dual-tone treatment looks and feels properly premium, as one would expect from a Skoda.
-
Similar to the Kushaq, the Kylaq also seats four comfortably, and the seat pockets receive a separate slot for your smartphone.
-
Skoda has thought out one particularly clever bit, the parcel tray of your boot can be stored behind the rear seat, so you don’t have to worry about stowing it away.
-
The base variants of the Kylaq receive twin analogue dials, which actually look rather cool and classy in an age of digital screens. The higher variants get an 8-inch digital cluster.
-
There is a 10.1-inch infotainment touch screen, and Skoda’s wireless smartphone connectivity typically works well. It also gets a wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats with power adjustment, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, and paddle shifters.
-
Skoda is aiming for a five-star BNCAP rating, with the Kushaq and Slavia having already achieved it at the GNCAP tests. The Kylaq gets six airbags, brake disc wiping, ISOFIX child seat mounts, passenger airbag de-activation, and multi-collision braking.
Kylaq features:
| TPMS | Yes |
| Wireless Charger | Yes - Front |
| Ventilated Seats | Front Row |
-
The Kylaq receives the smaller 1.0-litre turbo-petrol powertrain, with 113bhp and 178Nm of torque, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
-
Built on the same MQB-A0-IN platform, we can expect the Kylaq to possess similar driving characteristics compared to the Kushaq.

Latest Updates on Kylaq
Skoda has expanded the Kylaq lineup in India with the introduction of new variants, offering buyers more options across price points and features. The SUV continues with the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with manual and automatic gearboxes, while the updated lineup now spans multiple trims like Classic, Signature, and Prestige with added equipment across variants.
Skoda has made the Kylaq available through CSD depots across India, allowing armed forces personnel to purchase the SUV at subsidised prices starting from Rs 8.09 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in Signature, Signature+ and Prestige variants with both manual and automatic options, making it more accessible through the defence canteen network.
Skoda has recalled the Skoda Kylaq in India, along with other group models, due to a faulty rear seatbelt component that could compromise passenger safety. The issue involves a potential failure of the seatbelt latch and webbing in case of a collision, and affected units will be inspected and repaired free of cost.
Skoda has confirmed that a CNG option is being considered for the Skoda Kylaq and Kushaq as part of its future powertrain strategy in India. The move is aimed at improving fuel efficiency and meeting upcoming emission norms, with the CNG setup likely to be paired with the existing 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, though timelines remain unconfirmed.
