  Multi-Functional TFT Meter

  The R15M features a clear and sharp reverse LCD display that provides a wealth of vehicle-related information, including speed, RPM, fuel levels, call notification, message notification, gear indicator and other details.

  USD Forks

  Yamaha R15M employs an upside down front suspension fork with 37 mm inner tubes. The upside down front forks improve rigidity and provide stability while taking high speed turns or during high braking input.

  The new headlight features a single bi-functional LED unit emitting both the low and high beam. Characterized by increased brightness (Class-D), the unit’s lightweight and compactness have enabled the new highly aerodynamic fairing (cowling) design.

  An A&S (assist and slipper) clutch is adopted to reduce the weight of the clutch pull and provide low-stress shifting during deceleration. The A&S helps to reduce fatigue for the rider. This also prevents excessive engine braking, thus reducing its effects on chassis behavior.

  Traction Control

  The R15M comes with a Traction Control System. This is a dedicated electronic system that has special ability to reduce the chances of wheelspin (slippage due to loss of traction)

  The Quick Shifter (up-shift) allows for clutch-less shifting of gears. It increases the comfort of riding the vehicle since it eliminates the need to use the clutch or throttle before and after a gearshift.

However, the R15 V4 offers similar performance and looks at a lower price. The R15 M is meant for buyers who want a better learning tool for track & a different design appeal on the road than the V4 itself.

Design, Comfort, & Size 9

• The design of R15 M is its strongest selling point. It is inspired by the R7 sports bike and the outlook of it makes it stand apart in the crowd. All thanks to the big sports bike design, it is an eye candy on the road. Also, the single LED headlight at the front with aero dams in the fairing gives it a big bike feel in all true ways.
• Comfort-wise, there are better bikes in its segment. It is a sports bike and hence comfort is not the priority of its design. The aggressive riding posture is only good for short-distance rides. If you want a comfortable bike with similar capabilities, we suggest you try the MT-15 V2 which is essentially a naked version of the R15.
• The dimensions of the R15 M are another strong point of its design. One can not miss the R15 M on the road; such is its road presence. Also, due to the wide front profile, it looks like a bigger sports bike from a distance. At the rear, the 140 profile tyre with raised tail height, makes it look like a bigger bike than it actually is.

Features & Specification 9

• Feature-wise, the R15 M is the most well-equipped product in its segment. It has LED lights, LED DRLs, & LED indicators. It comes with a standard Quickshifter and Traction Control System that makes it more premium than its rivals. Also, the new colour TFT console is now standard on each variant of it. This console has a display that shows fuel economy, trip and total distance, and other info like TCS on/off. It also has Bluetooth for SMS and call alerts.
• The hardware of the R15 M is also one of the best in the segment. It has USD front suspension and preload adjustable rear monoshock suspension. Additionally, the 17-inch lightweight alloys add to its performance. The wider 140-profile rear tyre helps in better cornering as well as enhancing the agility of the bike.

Performance, Ride, Handling, & Braking 9

• The USP of the R15 M is its powerful engine. The 155cc liquid-cooled engine comes with a patented VVA tech. It is a very responsive engine that has enough torque to ride inside the city at low rpms. However, past 7,000 rpm, the VVA becomes active & the R15 M transforms into a very fast bike. It can easily redline up to the 10,000 rpm mark; making it usable for track riding basic learning. Also, this engine is very refined and it hardly vibrates. Only around the mid-rpm i.e. from 4,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm; one can feel a slight buzz from it. Moreover, the liquid cooling keeps the engine cool even during summer traffic.
• Equipped with USD front suspension & adjustable rear monoshock suspension, the ride of the R15 M is on the stiffer side. To give it more agility during city riding, the suspension is tuned a bit stiff. Also, the front end feels more stiff during potholes & off-road situations. But, on the curves and good roads, the R15 remains planted & calm like a big bike.
• Handling of the R15 M is very sharp and confidence-inspiring. All thanks to the brilliant chassis, the handling & ride combo of R15 is superbly tuned for enthusiastic riding. Around the curves and corners, it feels even more exciting & confident to ride.
• Yamaha has equipped the R15 M with a 282mm front disc brake & a 220mm rear disc brake. As it is a sports bike, most of the time you depend on the front brake performance. We love the braking of the new R15 M. It has a strong initial bite & the rider can easily stop it anywhere inside the city speed limits. Out on the highway, you need not to think twice before braking. In case of emergency braking, the bike remains in a straight line.

Fuel Economy & Safety 9

• The claimed ARAI fuel efficiency of the R15 M is above 50 kmpl. In fact, as per the user reports on our website, this figure is true. One can expect more than 500 km of fuel tank range on the R15 M, even if ridden fast.
• Safety-wise, the R15 M comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS. Also, Yamaha’s Traction Control System (TCS) offers safety. It works on loose and wet surfaces. The Quickshifter is more usable on track riding but the slipper-assist clutch helps aid the safety of the rider.
