KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Dzire base variant is Rs 70,000 cheaper than on Fronx.
- 6 airbags are standard across all variants of the Dzire.
- From any angle, the Fronx doesn't resemble an SUV.
Rs 10 lakh is the price mark that determines a lot of aspirations for Indian car buyers, as most car sales happen within this price range. People want the most adequate vehicle, if not the best. In this range, you have several options, but the hottest ones right now are the 4th generation Maruti Dzire and Maruti Fronx. The latter is a raised hatchback generating excellent sales numbers for the brand, while the Dzire is a new product, with deliveries already started. Like every previous generation, it is ready to dominate the roads.
So, if your budget is Rs 10 lakh and you're confused between these two, I am here to highlight why you should skip the Fronx and choose this sedan. More details below. In the meantime, make sure to join the 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Why Choose Dzire Over Fronx?
The all-new Dzire has a base price of Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 70,000 cheaper than the Fronx (Rs 7.51 lakh). This lower price allows you to explore higher variants within your Rs 10 lakh budget. For example, the ZXi (second-top) variant of the Dzire is priced at Rs 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and the on-road price would be around Rs 10 lakh.
In contrast, with the Fronx, you can only go up to the Delta Plus, the 3rd variant, which costs Rs 8.77 lakh (ex-showroom), and its on-road price is very close to Rs 10 lakh. If you're considering CNG variants, the Dzire offers better pricing compared to the Fronx.
Another important reason to choose the all-new Dzire is safety. It is the first Maruti Suzuki car to score a perfect 5-star rating in GNCAP, and it comes with 6 airbags as standard - making it a no-brainer for safety-conscious buyers. In comparison, 6 airbags are only available in the more expensive Zeta and Alpha variants of the Fronx. Lastly, the Fronx has not yet undergone any crash tests.
Mileage
The paramount reason why the majority of people buy a Maruti Suzuki is mileage, and the new Z-Series engine in the Dzire delivers an impressive fuel economy, rivaling that of strong hybrids. To be specific, the manual version offers a fuel efficiency of 24.79 kmpl, while the AGS (Auto Gear Shift) version achieves 25.71 kmpl.
If that doesn't meet your requirements, theres also a CNG option, offering an impressive fuel economy of 33.73 km/kg.
Talking about Fronx, 21.79 kmpl (MT) and 22.89 kmpl (AMT), for the 1.2L K-series engine. The CNG one achieves 28.51 km/kg and with 1.0L Tubro engine, this goes to 21.5 kmpl (MT) and 20.01 kmpl (AT).
So, better mileage, more affordable variants options, no-compromises with saftey and a whole new model, I beleive these points prove that Dzire is a smarter choice.

Verdict
The Maruti Fronx is essentially a Baleno on steroids, but the company's decision to categorize it as an SUV is misleading, as it doesn't appear to be an SUV, even if you put 20-inch alloys on it. Comparing it with the Dzire makes more sense, as this sedan is also based on the Swift and offers slightly more legroom and boot space. That said, the all-new Dzire is ahead of the Fronx in almost every department, offering more value overall. However, the 3-cylinder engine isn't as peppy as the K-Series, which might disappoint some buyers.
