Pros
Clean Design
The new Honda Amaze comes with a new design featuring more clean and proportionate body lines. The Amaze now gets a new front fascia with a bigger and bolder grille, new front bumper, a new LED DRL and headlamp setup. The side profile gets multispoke alloy wheel design and the rear gets sleek LED taillamp with wraparound lights. The overall design of the Amaze now looks more bolder than the previous generation.
Better Safety Than Before
With the generational update, Honda has made the Amaze more safer than before. The new Amaze comes with enhanced safety features like 6-airbags as standard, lane watch camera, ABS with EBD, VSM, hill-start assist, rear parking camera with sensors, among other features. Additionally, the Amaze has become the first car in the segment to feature ADAS level 2 features which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Braking, Auto high beam, lane keep assist among other ADAS features.
Efficient Petrol Engine, Only CVT In The Segment
The Amaze comes with the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine as the previous generation. This petrol engine comes with a 4-cylinder configuration and delivers 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of peak torque. This engine offers a refined performance and good efficiency. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission delivering a claimed efficiency of 18.65 kmpl. Moreover, the Amaze is the only sedan in the segment to offer a CVT transmission with a claimed efficiency of 19.46 kmpl. The CVT gearbox offers smoother gearshifts as compared to the AMT gearboxes available in the segment.
Better Space On The Inside & In The Boot
Honda Cars has redesigned the door pads of the new Amaze to offer better space inside the cabin. The width of the sedan has been improved as compared to its previous generation. It also offers good legroom to the rear passenger and the comfort inside the cabin is also good. Cons
Misses On A Few Features
The new Amaze is equipped with a plethora of features but it still misses on some features. The new Amaze misses on an auto-dimming IRVM, rear adjustable headrests, 360-degree camera, sunroof, no USB C-type charging port, among others. Moreover, the TPMS in the Amaze is available with Honda Connect app only.
No Proper Base Variant & High Starting Price
Honda has launched the new Amaze in three variants namely V, VX, and ZX with prices starting from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). If we look at the rivals, they offer a proper base variant with less features and all of them starts under Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). The non-availability of a base variant with less feature might deter some of the potential customers due to its high starting price. The CVT transmission option is priced Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh costlier than the MT version.
Available With A Single Powertrain
The new Amaze is the only sedan in the segment to come with a single powertrain option. The rivals like the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor offers a factory fitted CNG engine option, which is not an option with the Amaze. However, the Amaze can be retrofitted with a CNG kit at the dealer level.
Suspension Is Tuned On The Softer Side
The suspension on the new Amaze is tuned on a bit softer side. The softer suspension results in a lot of horizontal movement inside the cabin at higher speed and offers a bumpy ride unpaved surfaces.

Verdict
The new Honda Amaze comes with a lot of improvements, in terms of convenience features, safety features, design and other aspects. However, it still gets some downsides when compared to the rivals and misses on some features that the rivals offers. The Honda Amaze competes with the Maruti Dzire, Tata Tigor, and Hyundai Aura.
