The Renault Kwid is one of the longest-running and most affordable vehicles in Renault India's lineup. The Kwid comes with a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and up to Rs 6.44 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier this year, Renault India added some new updates that have increased the feature offerings of the hatchback. Here's the first look review of the 2024 Renault Kwid Climber Variant. 2024 Renault Kwid Climber Edition - Exterior
On the design front, the Kwid offers an SUV-like stance and design language which gives it a unique look. The front profile gets a double-layer headlamp design big headlamp assembly and a sleek LED DRL above it. The front also gets, a single slat grille finished with chrome. The bumper area gets air vents and a skid plate. The Kwid gets a halogen headlamp, an LED DRL, and halogen turn indicators snugged behind the DRLs.
On the sides, the Kwid gets 14-inch flex wheels with plastic. wheel covers that look like a proper alloy wheel. The SUV-inspired styling is also given on the sides. It gets big wheel arches and side body cladding which makes it look good from the sides as well. The side profile gets old-school door handles and body-colored ORVMs with turn indicators.
The top-spec Climber edition also gets Climber badging on the C pillar which is painted in black. The Kwid Climber edition comes in a dual-tone colour with a black roof and roof rails.
Moving to the rear, the hatchback comes with a simple-looking design and it comes with halogen tail lamps. The rear profile now seems a bit outdated. The large rear widescreen does not support any rear washer, wiper, or defogger.
The rear gets an integrated roof spoiler and a chrome beltline on the tailgate.

2024 Renault Kwid Climber - Interior
The interior of the top-spec Climber variant comes with a black treatment with a touch of silver and contrasting yellow colour highlights on different parts. The door panel is painted in black colour with silver highlight and chrome inside door handle. The seats get grey upholstery with yellow highlights on both front and rear seats. The front seats also get Climber badging on them. Also, the seats come with a fixed headrest.
The dashboard is adorned by an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a digital instrument console, a KWID badging on the left-hand side of the dashboard, circular corner AC vents, and the center AC vents are rectangular. The AC controls are given with different knobs for fan speed and temperature control. Below the aircon control, the hatchback also gets a 12-V charging socket, a USB socket, and an AUX input slot. The Kwid gets a three-spoke steering wheel with Bluetooth and calling controls mounted on it. The power window controls in the front are also available in the centre control area near the AC controls.
The center console has a small cubby hole and an area to keep your phone. It does not have a cup holder. A 5-speed manual gear shifter and the handbrake lever are available in the center console. The door pads come with a small door grab space and a small map pocket and
The rear row does not get any additional features and it comes with a similar seat design as the front. The power window controls for the rear window are given on the door. The rear doors do not get any map pocket or bottle holder.
2024 Renault Kwid Climber Edition Engine
The Kwid comes with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder NA petrol engine which produces 68 PS of power and 91 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. This engine is tuned for relaxed driving and it does feel underpowered in some situations. The economy of this engine is decent and it will return 12-13 kmpl in the city and 16-17 kmpl on highways.

Verdict
Renault Kwid is one of the feature loaded hatchback priced under Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). The design of the hatchback is now bit outdated, if we look at its competitors. Renault India now need to bring a proper facelift of the Kwid to make it more appealing for customers. The brand has improved the feature offering and variant offerings but the design is something which needs an update too.
