Variant Recommendation
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is offered in petrol and CNG variants along with an AMT option. It is available in four variants. According to us, the most value-for-money variant is the VXI in the petrol option and CNG option as well. This variant is equipped with an AMT gearbox as well and offers almost every feature on offer. If you are tight on budget, then the LXI variant is a good choice. But, upgrading to the VXI+ variant is not worthwhile. It is too expensive.
Expert Verdict on S-Presso
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is a good family hatchback with SUV appeal and good features on offer. It has decent space inside the cabin and the all-black cabin might feel claustrophobic. It has a frugal petrol engine which has refined tuning and exceptional fuel economy. It has both CNG and petrol options. They have over 25 km/l and 25 km/kg fuel efficiency. This makes it a compelling choice for tour operators.
Pros & Cons of Maruti S-Presso
Should I buy the S-Presso?
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is a good family car with decent space, good features, and excellent fuel economy on offer. It is a practical hatchback with decent build quality and its compact size makes it easy to drive vehicles in the city conditions. It has robust interiors and the CNG option makes it a much better option in the segment. If you are looking for a better option, then Renault Kwid is a good option for you.
- The design language of the S-Presso is somewhat in SUV terms with a high bonnet line giving a macho stance. The subtle use of chrome on the grill with black bumpers provides a premium aesthetic appeal. The halogen headlights are decent with the throw and LED DRLs are placed lower down. It misses on the fog lamps which could have been an additional touch.
- The side appearance is typically hatchback. The 14” steel wheels provide decent ride quality. Lower variants are offered with 13” steel wheels. The body-colored door handles and mirrors provide a premium appeal. In lower trim, they will become black in terms of cost-cutting.
- Coming to the rear, it has a quirky design language. The halogen taillights and the quirky-shaped boot opening do not have an attractive appeal. The boot space is decent enough with 240L has a great cargo area to stuff your luggage. Overall the front design is more appealing than the rear.
S-Presso body specifications:
Wheel Size | R13 & R14 |
Seating Capacity | 5 & 4 seaters |
Ground Clearance | 180 mm |
Boot Space | 240 liters |
- The S-Presso comes equipped with the same K10C engine that is offered in other Maruti Suzuki cars like Alto K10, Wagon R.
- It is a 999cc 3-cylinder engine that churns out 66 BHP and 89Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox. It is even available with a CNG mode as well, having less performance and more fuel efficiency.
-
In terms of fuel efficiency, petrol mode is claimed to get 25 km/L. In reality, it gets 20-22 km/L. On CNG MODE, it gets 32 km/kg. In reality, it gets over 27 km/kg, depending on driving style.
-
Due to its massive fuel efficiency, it is a much-liked product among the fleet operators.
- The cabin of the S-Presso has a decent amount of space for the front passengers. Fixed headrests provide them with decent comfort.
- Coming to the rear seats, it has decent space on offer. The cabin isn’t wide enough so 3 passengers might be a tight fit. The seats offer decent comfort and good knee room. But, headroom can be an issue for taller passengers.
- The suspension is tuned to be on the softer side to provide utmost comfort inside the cabin. It absorbs bumps and potholes but the cabin does have some noise filtering inside.
- The steering wheel is light in the city. It's easy to turn and maneuver in traffic. At high speeds, it might feel a bit vague and does not inspire confidence around the corners. There is some body roll that can be felt inside on hard cornering.
- As we step inside the cabin of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, it is a good space to be in. It offers an all-black cabin with hard-touch plastics all around.
- The seats are offered in fabric upholstery and the speedometer is placed above the infotainment system in the center. It is a digital cluster that only displays speed and no tachometer is on offer. The 8” Smartplay studio on offer has connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- The manual air conditioning makes the cabin chill in hot climates. The steering wheel gets audio controls along with the voice controls for ease of comfort.
- The rear seats offer good space and miss on power windows. You can get them as an accessory from the dealer. It has all the fixed headrests, that makes it a less practical space in the rear row.
