Pros
SUV-Inspired Design Gives A Big Car Look
The Kwid offers an SUV-inspired design language. It borrows some design elements from its bigger sibling the Kiger. The front gets a big headlamp assembly, LED DRLs, and a single-slat grille with chrome treatment. The side profile gets 14-inch wheels, big wheel arches, and side body cladding, enhancing the side profile. The rear is also simple yet decent looking with a chrome strip on the tailgate and halogen lamps. The Kwid is available in multiple colours and it comes in dual-tone colour options as well.
Easy To Use & Offers Good Handling
The Renault Kwid is an urban hatchback that can be used for daily city runs. The small dimensions of the hatchback make it easy to maneuver in city traffic, the light steering enhances the handling of the vehicle, and the overall driving dynamics of the Kwid are well-managed to offer you a good experience. The ride quality of the Kwid is also commendable, the suspension is tuned well to handle all your city potholes and bumps. It can glide over the undulations of the road with ease offering you a good ride quality.
A Feature Loaded Offering Under A Budget
The 2024 Renault Kwid comes with a decent amount of features considering its segment. The top-spec variant comes with LED DRLs, dual-tone flex wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, digital instrument cluster, all-four power windows, fast-charging USB port, and manual climate control among other features. The brand has recently added the 8-inch touchscreen in the mid-spec RXL(O) variant which has increased the value proposition of the mid variant.
Offers Decent Mileage
The Renault Kwid is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 68 PS and 91 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated with a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission. The manual transmission version can easily churn out a mileage of 14-15 kmpl in city conditions if you are a light foot driver and on highways this figure can increase to 17-18 kmpl depending on your driving style.
Pricing
One of the major positives of the Renault Kwid is pricing. The Kwid starts at Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 6.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand has also made the AMT gearbox option affordable with the RXL(O) AMT variant which starts at Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kwid offers the convenience of an AMT gearbox under Rs 6 lakh.

Cons
Engine Is Not Well Refined & Feels Underpowered
The 3-cylinder engine in the Kwid is not a silent motor. The engine noise seeps into the cabin if you are driving it at higher RPMs. The engine also returns some vibrations at higher speeds and those vibrations become evident on the steering and floorboard. The engine performs well between 2,000 and 4,000 RPM, but it seems underpowered above 4,000 RPM, especially when making quick maneuvers on the highway. Additionally, the initial torque could be improved, as it requires more accelerator input to pull effectively at lower RPMs.
Outdated Design
The Kwid has been on the Indian market for nearly 10 years, during which it has undergone some cosmetic changes. However, it now needs a proper facelift or generational upgrade to appear fresh and modern. The rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Maruti Suzuki Celerio received their facelifts years ago.
No 6-Airbag Option In Any Variant
The Kwid comes with decent safety features considering the size of the vehicle. It offers dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminders, rear parking camera with sensors, among other features. However, none of the variants comes with 6-airbags which might disappoint some customers and affect their purchase decision.
