For 2025, Honda Cars India has launched their only SUV in a bold avatar, which also joins the current automotive trend of offering fully blacked-out products. I'm talking about the Honda Elevate Black Edition - late to the party, but it looks fantastic with a completely blacked-out interior and exterior. A few weeks ago, we at 91Wheels did a full review of it, and now I'm here to provide a first-look review. More information below, and in the meantime, make sure to join the 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Honda Elevate Black Edition
The Honda Elevate Black Edition is launched at a starting price of Rs 15.51 lakh ex-showroom. It is based on the top-spec ZX variant and is available with both manual and CVT options. Additionally, the ZX CVT of the Black Edition is priced at Rs 16.73 lakh ex-showroom. Its second iteration, called the Signature Edition, is available with a manual gearbox at a price of Rs 15.71 lakh and Rs 16.93 lakh for the CVT, which is the version we have reviewed. Now, let's find out what this special edition brings to the table.
Exterior

The exterior, as the name suggests, is completely blacked out. All the parts where Honda adds chrome in the regular Elevate model are replaced with pitch-black elements. For example, the chrome slat above the grille is black, along with the silver cladding and aluminum roof rails. At first glance, nobody would believe this is a genuine model from the company, as it looks so aftermarket. However, this Black Edition has become the need of the hour, as almost every compact SUV sold in India now has its own special edition to help it stand apart from the crowd.

The R17 gloss black-painted multi-spoke alloy wheels are identical to those featured on the regular Elevate, but finished in black here. Additionally, the Signature Edition badging is placed on the front fender, and at the rear, behind the Elevate nameplate, is the 'Black Edition' badging. Furthermore, since this variant is based on the ZX trim, it gets all the same features, such as LED projector headlamps, auto-fold mirrors with LED turn signals, and the bold alpha signature grille.

Interior

As we step inside the interior, the black theme continues, with sporty black seats featuring black stitching and piano black garnish on the central console. Thankfully, the roof has not been given this color treatment and continues to have the same light cream color. There is a single-pane sunroof, which brings in natural light and allows you to see the work done by Honda, although it still feels quite dark inside.

The features present here include a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch TFT digital driver's display, 8 premium speakers, a single-pane sunroof, a wireless charging pad, ADAS, automatic climate control, and 7-color rhythmic ambient lights.

Talking about its engine, it is a 1.5L NA 4-cylinder i-VTEC that produces 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. The claimed fuel efficiency of this engine is 15.31 km/l with the manual gearbox and 16.92 km/l with the CVT.

Verdict
The Honda Elevate Black Edition is a great-looking SUV with one of the best driving abilities in its segment. It also offers an impressive ground clearance of 220 mm, making it a great option if you want to do a bit of off-roading. The engine is also excellent in terms of refinement and revving. However, it falls miles behind its competitors in terms of features, as even SUVs in lower segments offer better features. So, Honda needs to work on addressing these shortcomings.
