The luxury full-size SUV segment has taken a leap forward when it comes to these two humongous 7 seater German SUVs, Audi Q7 and BMW X7. Governing the roads with heavy road presence and uncountable bells and whistles on offer, this segment lets you be proudly driven by a chauffeur or even quenches the occasional thirst of being behind the wheel.
The most loved SUV in Bollywood, the Audi Q7 is making a comeback to India in its BS6 avatar on February 3rd 2022, after being delayed because of the pandemic. It is being put up to high expectations in terms of its drivability, practicality and VFM quotient.
BMW X7 being on the pricier side has been one of the most popular choices among the customers and we hope Audi Q7 holds up well.

Both these full size 7 seater luxury SUVs are well known for their upfront stance garnished with massive grills giving them an aggressive look. The design perfections of both these German SUVs are unique in their own ways and are surely a head-turner.
The BMW X7 being volumetrically larger than the Audi Q7 has a longer wheelbase and features more legroom on the inside but if an off-roading bug bites you, the Q7 does seem to have an edge in terms of increased ground clearance with better approach and departure angles.

Due to the implementation of BS6 emission norms, India misses out on a turbocharged-diesel Q7 when compared to the BMW but isn't a deal-breaker considering the higher fuel prices today. The Q7 is at par with the X7's petrol engine in terms of the same peak power delivery and dominates in terms of torque that too in a lower RPM band which reflect the jaw-dropping refinement of the motor. Both the vehicles feature a highly capable AWD system with a driving mode selector system to distribute power between the front and the rear wheels as per the terrain.

Audi Q7 Vs BMW X7 - Features
The German SUV duo don't fail to impress with their practicality and comprehensive feature list on offer to bring a smile to your face, be it cosmetically or technologically.
The Audi Q7 will be offered in two variants - Premium Plus and Technology featuring multiple driver aids that come in handy with spot-on ergonomics. These include fully adjustable dampers, Matrix LED headlights, Audi's virtual cockpit, 360: parking camera, Auto-Park assist and lane departure warning to name a few.
The BMW X7 is currently offered as the xDrive 40i equipped with the M Sport Package and xDrive30d DPE Signature equipped with the Design Pure Excellence Package. All the modern features which are a class apart include Launch Control, adaptive dampers, BMW Laserlights, Panoramic 3-part glass roof, BMW Live Cockpit, Active Park Distance control and a Display Key with Touch panel.
Verdict
In a face-off of these SUVs featuring a highly capable drivetrain and a decent spec-sheet, it makes us difficult to lean to the ends. However, these SUVs belong to a different price band but are comparable to be the 7 seaters offerings with a downpour of luxury. The only dealbreaker for the Audi Q7 can be the absence of a diesel motor which is something the rivals currently offer. Also, the Audi Q7 features an old school alloy wheel design which might be a shortcoming for some.
