PROS
1. Engine Options: A Lot To Choose From
Hyundai provides three engine choices for the Venue: a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0L turbo petrol, and a 1.5L turbo diesel. The 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines are available exclusively with manual transmissions. In contrast, the 1.0L turbo petrol offers more flexibility, with options for either a 6-speed auto-clutch manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This varied list of engine choices creates a bigger pool of potential buyers looking for a particular powertrain choice.
2. Feature List: A Hyundai Thing
The Venue follows the general trend followed by any Hyundai car ( Obviously!), and that is being loaded with the modern trendy tech. Hyundai has enhanced the Venue, one of its top-selling SUVs, by adding a host of new features over its pre-facelift model. The Venue now includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), keyless entry, automatic climate control, cruise control, front and rear armrests, a power-adjustable drivers seat, an air purifier, ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, puddle lamps, and an electric sunroof, among other upgrades.
3. Mileage With Turbo Petrol
Turbo engines are the driver's delight but are notorious for being guzzlers. However, with the Venue, that's not the exact case, The Venue's 1.0L turbo petrol engine generates 120PS of power at 6000rpm and delivers 172Nm of torque at 4000rpm. This engine boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 103.99PS and still, the Venue 1.0L turbo petrol is reported to achieve a fuel efficiency of around 17 to 18 kmpl, which is an impressive figure. However, if you are more of a sporty driver, don't expect these figures to be anywhere closer to this!
CONS
1. No Rear Armrest
With buyers looking for more and more features, a few misses can be overlooked in terms of tech. But the raw convenience of passengers comes with the first experience as they enter the cabin. The seating has to be convenient and this is where the rear seat armrest will be dearly missed, especially when we are talking about the top-spec SX(O) trim which comes north of Rs. 12 lakhs ex-sh mark. Cost Cutting? This is not the place for it!

2. Diesel Mill, But No Automatic
The Hyundai Venue does not provide a diesel-automatic transmission option. In contrast, other sub-4m compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO offer diesel AMT options. Additionally, the Kia Sonet, which shares its platform and powertrain with the Venue, includes a torque converter automatic transmission for its diesel engine. This, in my opinion, is a big omission that can divert a lot of potential buyers.
3. DCTs Aren't The Best For Indian Conditions
DCTs were earlier known for their unreliability and expensive repairs. However, the tech has been improved over time, but the dry clutch in Indian hot weather conditions still has a long way to go in terms of dependability. It sometimes tends to overheat in bumper-to-bumper traffic and courtesy of the dry clutch, the wear and tear is also quicker than its counterparts.
Verdict
The Hyundai Venue is a very strong contender in the segment owing to its strong mechanics and a rich feature list but everything comes with its own set of shortcomings. But the question takes us to the starting of this section. Can you live with it? And the answer to that after all the things said above, in my opinion is Yes, you can!
