The Maruti Suzuki Celerio, once considered a perfect first car, has now lost its glory as its audience has shifted to the compact SUV segment, including the micro-SUV segment ruled by affordable cars like the Tata Punch and Maruti Fronx. However, there are still people who love its mini-car looks and appreciate its engineering, which makes it feel spacious inside despite its compact length. Additionally, a notable achievement of the Celerio is that its CNG variant is the most fuel-efficient car in the country, delivering an average of 34.43 km/kg.
So, if mileage is your concern and you want a small car that's cheap to maintain and reliable, the Maruti Celerio is a great option. To add more, I will tell you about its key features. Meanwhile, make sure to join the 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Maruti Celerio Features
7 Inch Infotainment Screen
The touchscreen is placed in the center of the AC vents and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, it doesn't have a reverse parking camera; instead, Maruti has added parking sensors. The touchscreen response is basic, but the resolution is decent. Dont expect much from this, as it is an entry-level car and one of the cheapest. To add more, only the top trim, ZXi Plus get this at Rs 6.59 lakh ex-showroom.
Push Start Button
Thank goodness theres a push-start button in the Celerio, as a normal key now feels like something from the 2000s. Most automakers are offering this technology in entry-level vehicles. Simply get inside, start your car with the push button, and move ahead. Technology like this justifies the vehicle's price tag in modern times.
Steering Mounted Audio Controls
Again, only available in the top model, ZXi Plus, the steering-mounted controls allow you to keep your eyes on the road while changing tracks, adjusting the volume, and receiving or declining calls. Steering-mounted controls can be really handy in certain emergency situations and might even prevent an accident. So, this is a must-have feature in your next car.
Electrically-Foldable ORVMs With Turn Indicators
This feature falls under comfort and convenience because being able to close your side mirrors with the touch of a button is a luxury - and the Maruti Celerio offers it. We all hate it when our car has to pass through a narrow lane where theres a high chance that the mirrors could get scratched. In these situations, foldable ORVMs eliminate the hassle of stretching to fold them manually. Plus, the turn indicators on them add a touch of elegance.
Reverse Parking Sensors
Maruti didnt provide a reverse camera, but they added reverse parking sensors that work just as well. Think of them as a camera without an eye. When you put the car in reverse, they activate, and their sound is audible in the cabin. As the proximity between the car and the object behind it decreases, the volume becomes louder and more urgent, signaling the driver to apply the brakes or indicating that the car is now perfectly parked. This feature is available even in the cheapest variant, the Dream Edition, which costs Rs 4.99 lakh ex-showroom.

Verdict
The Maruti Celerio also comes with features like 15-inch black alloy wheels, hill hold assist, two airbags, and front fog lamps. Although these features may seem modest compared to todays standards, they cater to the specific needs of the Celerios target audience. This audience values a vehicle that can transport them comfortably and efficiently, with a touch of entertainment. The Celerio meets all these requirements in a compact package.
