Maruti Suzuki Ignis vs Rivals: Price
With a price range that starts at Rs 5.84 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.06 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is more expensive than the slightly smaller Tata Tiago but relatively more affordable than the Hyundai Grand i10. All three hatchbacks are exclusively available with a petrol engine, and both manual and AMT gearbox options, with CNG variants, are also included in their lineups.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis Vs Rivals: Engine And Mileage
All these three hatchbacks here have 1.2-litre petrol engines as their standard powertrains. However, unlike the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, which have four-cylinder engines, the Tata Tiago is the only one with a three-cylinder engine.
The absence of one cylinder is reflected in the overall engine refinement levels of Tiago, which are lesser than those of Ignis and Grand i10. Besides having the best-in-class engine refinement levels, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is the most fuel-efficient car in this comparison, though only marginally.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis vs Rivals: Dimensions and Road Presence
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis might be the shortest car in length compared to the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago. However, it is the widest and tallest here while having a marginally lesser wheelbase compared to the best-in-class wheelbase of the Grand i10 Nios. With this, the Ignis has the most spacious cabin in this comparison, having a higher ground clearance and the largest boot compartment.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis also has a more striking road presence than the more conventional-looking Grand i10 Nios and Tiago. All three cars here have projector headlamps, LED DRLs and fog lamps, though the Ignis is the only one to get LED projectors instead of halogen projectors offered in Grand i10 Nios and Tiago.
The Ignis also has black alloy wheels, unlike the diamond-cut alloys of Grand i10 Nios and Ignis. Lastly, the Ignis and Grand i10 Nios have roof rails, while the Tiago gets roof rails only in its rugged version, the Tiago NRG.

Verdict
Barring a minor facelift that gave it a mildly tweaked front grille and bumpers, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis has remained unchanged since its debut than happened more than seven years ago. With that respect, the Ignis now feels a bit dated, reflecting its rather basic equipment level. However, the quirky design still gives it a love-it-or-hate-it road presence, and with its boxy design and higher ground clearance, it looks tougher and more SUV-like compared to its direct rivals. The spacious cabin and the tried-and-tested, reliable, and fuel-efficient engine make it a more refined and practical car.
