KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- The expected price of the Tata Curvv iCNG is Rs 11 to 14 lakh
- It will come with the same 1.2L Revotron petrol engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox
- Grand Vitara S-CNG will be its only rival.
After launching the Tata Nexon iCNG, India's third-largest automaker is preparing to introduce the Tata Curvv iCNG model, which will likely feature the same 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine found in the Nexon iCNG and several other Tata cars. Upon its launch, the Curvv will compete head-to-head with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara S-CNG, the only other compact SUV offering this bi-fuel option.
I am assuming the specifications for the Nexon iCNG and Curvv iCNG will be similar, so I will compare the two cars mentioned above. Let's take a deep dive in and in the meantime, make sure to join 91Wheels WhatsApp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Tata Curvv iCNG Specifications
Based on the current lineup, it is safe to assume that the Tata Curvv CNG will carry forward the powertrain from the Nexon i-CNG, which includes the 1.2L Revotron engine paired with a 60L twin-cylinder CNG kit that produces 100 PS and 170 Nm of torque. The gearbox option with this setup is a 6-speed manual transmission. Given Tata's recent innovations, it wouldn't be surprising if they introduced a 7-speed DCT gearbox for the Curvv iCNG.
Comparison with Maruti Grand Vitara S-CNG
Specifications | Tata Curvv iCNG | Maruti Grand Vitara S-CNG |
Engine | 1.2 L Revotron | 1.5 L |
CNG Kit | 60 L Twin-Cyclinder | 55 L Single Cyclinder |
Power | 100 Ps | 87.83 Ps |
Torque | 170 Nm | 121.5 Nm |
Gearbox | 6MT | 5MT |
These are the figures I have mentioned for the Curvv, and in comparison, the Tata car excels in every department. It is set to provide a more athletic experience and help reshape the perception of CNG powertrains. Regarding mileage, the Grand Vitara S-CNG claims 26.6 km/kg, and I believe the Curvv i-CNG will achieve somewhere between 24 to 25 km/kg in fuel efficiency.
Features Comparison: Tata Curvv iCNG VS Maruti Grand Vitara S-CNG
This is a no-brainer, that the Curvv bi-fuel option will provide more features than Grand Vitara. Look at the features, Tata has given to its best-selling vehicle, and the Curvv will most likely take it one notch higher. Before getting to know the feature of Grand Vitara S-CNG, let's check out the most anticipated features in the Tata's car.

Tata Curvv iCNG VS Maruti Grand Vitara S-CNG: Dimensions
Dimensions | Tata Curvv iCNG | Maruti Grand Vitara S-CNG |
Length | 4308 mm | 4345 mm |
Width | 1810 mm | 1795 mm |
Height | 1630 mm | 1645 mm |
Wheelbase | 2560 mm | 2600 mm |
Ground Clearance | 208 mm | 210 mm |
The figures indicate that the Grand Vitara is a larger vehicle, but only by a few centimeters. However, the rear seat experience in the Vitara is much better than in the Curvv because it doesn't have a slanting roofline that reduces rear headroom, making it difficult for tall passengers to sit comfortably on long journeys.
Additionally, the boot space of the Curvv ICE is 500 L, but at the moment, I can't assess the luggage capacity of the upcoming iCNG variant; however, it is unlikely to be less than 400 L if Tata includes the twin-cylinder kit. On the other hand, the boot space of the Grand Vitara is 373 L, so in this department, the Curvv will outperform the GV.

Verdict
The upcoming Curvv iCNG will most likely come with the same specifications as mentioned above, but Tata can be unpredictable and may surprise us at the launch, just as they did with the Nexon iCNG by introducing India's first turbo CNG car. Upon launch, it will also compete against the Nexon, allowing consumers to determine whether the Curvv offers more luxury or if it makes more sense to stick with the Nexon.
