Tata Motors will officially announce the pricing of its all-new Coupe SUV, the Tata Curvv. The automaker revealed the ICE model alongside the Curvv EV launch event. The Tata Curvv has some segment-topping features be it tech, safety or comfort. With the arrival of products like the Tata Curvv and the Citroen Basalt, a new segment of coupe SUVs has made its place in the Indian car market. Currently, there are two coupe SUVs in India- Tata Curvv ICE and Citroen Basalt. While Citroen India launched Basalt earlier than the Curvv, Tata is not too late to give it stiff competition. The Citroen Basalt starts at a lower price when compared to Curvv's price tag, but it's less loaded too. Tata Curvv Vs Citroen Basalt: Design
When it comes to design, the Tata Curvv looks more aligned and muscular than the Citroen Basalt. While Citroen carries a conventional and sharp design that looks similar to other cars in the brand's lineup. In comparison, the Tata Curvv differentiates with its low-positioned headlamps, higher stance and unique wheel arches as well. Coming to the rear profile, the Tata Curvv gives more SUV feel than the Basalt. While the Basalt carries a neat design, the Curvv's rear looks more filled out with elements such as an LED light bar and spoiler.
Being specific about the Basalt's design, the Coupe SUV carries a bigger look than other Citroen cars. The Basalt follows a specific design language with lines and neat bodywork. In fact, rather than looking like an SUV, the Basalt feels more like a upped sedan. In terms of the rear profile, you get wrap-around rectangular tail lamps. Additionally, the Basalt has a full-hatch opening boot which proves really helpful while loading the boot space.
Tata Curvv Vs Citroen Basalt: Features
When it comes to features, the Tata Curvv is more loaded than the Citroen Basalt. The Curvv has features such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument console, 9-speaker JBL audio system, multi-colour ambient lighting, ventilated and front seats, flush type door handles and most importantly a panoramic sunroof. In addition to the above features, the Tata Curvv ICE leads with features such as Level 2 ADAS, power boot opening, six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child mounts and a 360-degree camera.
In comparison, the Citroen Basalt's top-end model offers features such as a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster (smaller than the Curvv), climate control, connected car tech, folding seats at the rear, 16-inch alloy wheels, power ORVMs and wireless phone charging.
Tata Curvv Vs Citroen Basalt: Engine
The all-new Tata Curvv carries three engine options in total- a 1.2-litre Revotron (118 bhp and 170 Nm), a Hyperion GDi turbo petrol (123 bhp and 225 Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 116 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. For transmission duties, there are options of a seven-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT unit with each engine option. The Curvv is comparatively more powerful than the Basalt which touches the maximum 109 bhp and 205 Nm with its most powerful 1.2-litre turbo engine.
The Citroen Basalt is available in two engine options, including a 1.2 litre NA petrol engine that makes 82 bhp and 115 Nm and a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine which is capable of making 109 bhp and 190 Nm when mated to a manual gearbox and 109 bhp and 205 Nm when mated with an automatic gearbox.
Price Comparison
The Citroen Basalt has been launched at a starting price tag of Rs. 7.99 lakh and goes up to Rs. 14 lakh. The Basalt lock its horns with some established names such as the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and the Kia Sonet. On the other hand, the Curvv ICE is priced at Rs. 9.98 lakh which goes up to Rs. 17.69 for the top-end Accomplished +A variant. All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom.

Verdict
The Tata Curvv clearly outshines the Citroen Basalt in terms of design, features, and engine performance. With its robust design, advanced tech, and powerful engine options, the Curvv offers a superior value proposition despite a higher price. The Citroen Basalt, while more affordable, lacks the comprehensive feature set and engine options of the Curvv, making it less competitive in this segment.
