PROS

Refreshed Design Looks Good

The new Altroz features a refreshed front fascia, which includes a redesigned grille, LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights (DRLs) with integrated turn signals, and a new bumper that incorporates LED fog lamps with cornering lamps. The front profile maintains an aggressive and bold stance while also adding a touch of sophistication.

The side profile boasts a sleeker design, highlighted by flush door handles and newly designed aero-style diamond-cut alloy wheels. Finally, the rear of the new Altroz is adorned with connected LED tail lamps, giving it a distinctive new appearance.

Feature-Loaded Interior

The interior of the new Altroz now offers more features for an enhanced cabin experience. It comes with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This new screen offers a crisp and responsive UI, the wireless connectivity is seamless. Moreover, it now gets a new 10.25-inch digital cluster, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and an electric sunroof, among other features.

Other features include automatic headlamp, rain sensing wipers, air purifier, 8-speaker Harman music system, 65W Type C charging ports, rear AC vents and more.

Enhanced Comfort

Tata Altroz

The seats in the new Altroz have received a subtle update that enhances comfort for both front and rear passengers. The brand has cleverly integrated raised under-thigh support, and the improved foam in both the front and rear seats provides added comfort for passengers and the driver. Furthermore, the cushioning of the seats is of high quality, ensuring comfort during longer journeys and making them stress-free.

Practical Cabin & Boot Space

The cabin of the new Altroz is spacious for the occupants and their knick-knacks as well. The doors can easily hold a one-litre bottle, an umbrella, and some small things. The centre console offers two cup holders, a small storage area under the armrest. At the rear, both the front seat backs get a magazine holder, the higher versions get an armrest with a cup holder, and the doors can easily hold a one-litre bottle.

The Altroz is available in 3 powertrain options: petrol, diesel, and CNG. The boot space in the Petrol/Diesel version is 345 litres, and the CNG that comes with dual-cylinder technology offers a boot space of 210 litres. This makes the Altroz a practical and spacious hatchback in the segment.

Ride & Handling

Tata cars have a reputation for providing an excellent suspension setup, and the new Altroz is no exception. It smoothly handles small bumps, potholes, and road imperfections, ensuring a comfortable experience inside the cabin. Additionally, the car maintains stability even at higher speeds. The steering is light at lower speeds but gains weight as the car accelerates. Overall, the ride quality and handling of the new Altroz will leave you satisfied.

Multiple Engine & Transmission Options

The 2025 Altroz offers three engine options: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.2-liter CNG engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. Notably, it is the only hatchback in its segment available with a diesel engine. In terms of transmission options, the petrol engine can be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission (MT), a new 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCA) gearbox. Meanwhile, both the diesel and CNG engines are equipped with a single 5-speed manual transmission.

Cons

Fit & Finish

One major issue with Tata cars is the fit and finish of body panels and plastic parts. You can easily find inconsistent panel gaps on the exterior and interior of the new Altroz. If we compare this with the rivals, the fit and finish feel below average in front of the rivals.

No Diesel & CNG Automatic

The diesel and CNG engines are only available with a manual transmission option. The diesel engine comes in three trims, all of which have a manual transmission. The same applies to the CNG engine. However, the manual transmission of the Altroz is not the smoothest option available. The notchy gear shifts are a bummer for the overall driving experience.

Missing Features

The new Altroz comes with more features than its previous version, but it still lacks some important ones. Notably, it doesn't include an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror (IRVM), ventilated seats, split rear seats, a full-size spare wheel, and a few other features. Additionally, the cabin is only offered with fabric seat options, which detracts from the premium feel in the higher variants.

Refinement of 1.2-litre Engine

The Altroz is the only hatchback in its segment that features a 3-cylinder configuration for its 1.2-liter engine. However, the engine's refinement leaves much to be desired; you can easily hear noise from the engine inside the cabin, and it begins to feel strained at high speeds. At times, the engine also seems underpowered.

Verdict

The new Tata Altroz has been improved in terms of design, features, and comfort. Its engine options make it one of the best in the segment, and the practicality it offers is on par with its rivals. Several segment-first features also make it more desirable. However, there are a few areas that could have been better, particularly in terms of fit and finish, engine refinement, and performance.
