2025 Volvo XC90: What's New?

In terms of appearances, the 2025 XC90 carries the understated design from the current model. However, the front and rear have been refreshed just enough. It gets a new grille which aligns with Volvo's new design language seen on other cars in the lineup.

The headlamps are also sleeker than before and they retain the Thor's hammer DRL pattern. The front bumper and the air vents have been redesigned slightly. However, everything else on the outside continues with minimal differences.

Under the hood, the XC90 continues with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 246bhp and 360Nm of torque, along with the mild-hybrid system and all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid variant sold globally seems to have been given a miss.

The core layout of the interiors have also been retained, but the presence of new A/C vents and a larger 11.2-inch infotainment touch screen have freshened things up a little. The infotainment screen comes with built-in Google support for navigation, voice assistant and other apps.

Additionally, the 2025 XC90 also comes with other features such as air suspension, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, rear collision warning, adaptive power steering, a passenger airbag cut-off switch, power adjustable front seats with ventilation and memory, four-zone climate control, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and an air-ventilated subwoofer among other things.
Verdict
With this update, Volvo has made changes mainly to the exteriors and the features list of the XC90, making it look and feel fresher. It continues to be a typical Volvo in the sense that it will remain an understated luxury SUV that will not grab many eyeballs, but the few who understand cars will certainly remember it when they see it.
