Honda Cars India has revealed its new SUV Elevate in the Indian market. According to the brand, this is just the beginning of Honda's SUV journey in India. The Japanese carmaker plans to have a portfolio of 5 SUVs in India by 2030. Moreover, along with the reveal of the Elevate SUV, Honda also confirmed the electric version of Elevate for India in the next three years.
The new Elevate has been introduced with only a naturally aspirated petrol engine. It was also expected to get Honda's eHEV strong hybrid powertrain. However, for some reason, Honda has not offered its strong hybrid powertrain in the Elevate SUV. Also, the brand has stayed away from saying anything about future plans or the possibility of the hybrid Elevate. Now it's more likely that Honda will skip the hybrid powertrain and directly bring the electric powertrain in the Elevate SUV.
What Next Can We Expect From Honda Cars India?
According to the brand, it plans to launch one new product every year in India for the next five years. If not all 5, at least 3 of these 5 products are most likely to be SUVs. Honda is also exploring the feasibility & potential of bringing some of its premium models to India through the CKD & CBU route.
Honda already has several global products like HR-V, WR-V, New Jazz, CR-V, New Civic, City Hatchback, Honda E, etc, which could be considered for India by the brand. We expect Honda to soon bring a new compact SUV to India. As Honda previously had the WR-V in the compact SUV segment in India, it is likely to bring the new WR-V to India sometime in the future. Also, Honda could bring its small electric car Honda E to India through the CBU or CKD route.
