Hyundai Alcazar Prices Hiked By Rs 15,000!

  • The diesel variants are available with a price hike of Rs 10,000.
  • Prices for the petrol variants have been hiked by Rs 15,000.
  • The base ex-showroom of the Alcazar remains Rs 14.99 lakh.  

Launched last year, the current Hyundai Alcazar has received its first price hike, but there is no need to worry. This price hike applies only to certain variants, as the rest of them continue to be offered at the same prices. The Alcazar goes up mainly against the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the Mahindra XUV 700.

Hyundai Alcazar Price Hike: Details

Prices for certain 7-seater diesel variants have been hiked by Rs 10,000. The Platinum 7-seater MT, which used to come in at Rs 19.46 lakh, and is now priced at Rs 19.55 lakh. Meanwhile, the Platinum Matte 7-seater MT also now comes in at Rs 19.70 lakh, as opposed to Rs 19.60 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Similarly, the petrol variants have also seen a price hike of Rs 15,000. Below is a table listing the variants and the old and new price difference.

The current Alcazar is available in four different trims; Executive, Prestige, Platinum, and Signature. While receiving a major visual upgrade, the new Alcazar retains the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel powertrains from before. The 1.5-litre petrol produces 158bhp and 250Nm of torque, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. Meanwhile the 1.5-litre diesel puts out 115bhp and 250Nm of torque, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.

Some of the features on the Alcazar include ventilated seats for the first and second row, comfort headrests, level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a 1025-inch blended screen setup for the infotainment and the digital cluster, a 360-degree camera, power adjustable seats for the driver and passenger, electric 'boss' mode for the second-row passenger, wireless charging pad, and memory function for the driver seat adjustment, among many other things.

Verdict

The price hike on select variants of the Alcazar should not necessarily have an impact on its sales, as it continues to be a viable option for buyers. The Alcazar may be smaller and less powerful compared to its rivals, and it may also miss out on some road presence, but Hyundai's trusted aftersales experience gives it back some brownie points.
