Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) seems to be preparing to bring new technology for its CNG cars to the Indian market. The brand has recently registered two new trademarks named Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo. This suggests the brand is planning to bring a new identity for its CNG vehicles in the Indian market and it might launch dual-cylinder CNG technology for its upcoming cars. Hyundai Dual-Cylinder CNG Tech Coming Soon?
Hyundai is one of the biggest automakers in the Indian market and along with offering conventional petrol and diesel cars, the brand also offers CNG cars. The recently filed trademark name HY-CNG suggests a new nomenclature for CNG cars like the Maruti Suzuki's S-CNG lineup. The other trademark name is HY-CNG Duo which hints towards the addition of dual-cylinder CNG technology in the Hyundai CNG cars. Currently, Hyundai India offers factory-fitted CNG in the Grand i10 NIOS, Aura, and Exter.
The HY-CNG is expected to be the name of single CNG cylinder versions of the car while the HY-CNG Duo could be used for the dual-cylinder models. Hyundai India currently lacks in terms of CNG model offering whereas Maruti Suzuki is leading in terms of CNG offering. Also, we can anticipate the introduction of CNG in other Hyundai cars soon. The dual-cylinder CNG technology was recently launched by Tata Motors which offers a decent boot space to the CNG vehicles. With the increasing cost of fuel, customers are heading toward alternate fuel options and CNG is among one of the most opted alternate fuels in the Indian market. But one of the major concerns while opting for a CNG car is the boot space. Tata resolved that with its dual-cylinder technology and now it seems like Hynudai will soon follow in the footsteps of Tata to offer more space to its customers.

With the increasing demand of CNG fuel vehicles, the brands are now focusing on expanding their CNG lineup. Currently, Maruti Suzuki is leading the CNG space with its 12 CNG cars, followed by Tata Motors which offers dual-cylinder technology with 4 CNG models. Hyundai, currently is at last number with just three CNG offerings. It appears that now the brand is set to enhance its position in the CNG segment, as indicated by a new trademark registration.
