Hyundai is busy updating the models in its Indian line-up. After launching the Creta E petrol model, the Korena carmaker has now launched a new base model for the Verna. The Hyundai Verna E petrol base model now becomes the cheapest variant of the car to be sold in India and is cheaper than the Honda City by a significant margin. In addition to this, the brand has also slightly increased the price of other models of the Hyundai Verna. With the launch of Verna E petrol, the range of cars starts from Rs 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new entry-level model of the Verna undercuts the 4th-gen Honda City by more than Rs 25000 is Rs 35000 cheaper than the Verna S model. While the entry-level Verna E looks similar to the Verna S, the car misses out on features such as touchscreen infotianment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and other things like an USB charger and sunglass holder. It is also worth noting that with the launch of the new E model, the Verna is now one of the cheapest cars in the segment which gets porducts like the new Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, and Skoda Rapid.

Powering the Hyundai Verna E petrol base model is a 1.5-L MPi petrol engine. This engine delivers peak power and torque output figures of 113 hp and 144 Nm respectively and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher variants of the car can also be had with a turbocharged petrol and diesel engines apart from this 1.5-L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
